My E-mail was hacked...

i tried to log in at my yahoo mail today but i can't get through. I tried to retrieve my password but after i filled up the form to confirm my identity, yahoo said my account is deactivated. I was shocked. How come? When i always use it and just yesterday i checked my mails. Im rather confused as to why it happened since i didn't deactivate it nor was i inactive.
I feel really bad since i got so many photos in Yahoo photos that i havent developed yet. And some important documents in my inbox. =(
Is it possible that it was hacked? I never told anyone my password. Has this happened to any of you?

I would email yahoo and ask them why this has happened. It oculd have been an error on their side or maybe your address ahs been hacked or maybe you have being sending out what they consider unsolicitated mail.

Check out the link above for Yahoo help. It says your account could have been locked if someone has tried to attempt to get into your account too many times and could be locked for 12 hours.
What exactly is teh message that you get when you try to log in and I will try and help you.

i let 12 hours passed hoping yahoo just locked it for security reasons. They do that after too many failed attempts to access, but unfortunately until now i can't log in. I guess the account really is done. =(

Hi mayenskie. I'm sorry for what happened to you and I hope that you just forgot your password and username. I have never had this experience before. Maybe there is a way to contact yahoo mail? That's the best way to get your account back. take care mayenskie.

i know my hotmail was "hacked" (they guessed my secret question) and i talked to hotmail over the phone and everything and it eventaully got sorted after a long time. If you really really want your account you will need to keep talking to them via email and make a few calls. It all depends how much work your willing to do to get it back. Good luck though and if i hear anyone else in the same situation i will be sure to give you a shout.

So you got your account back..thats good. Thanks for giving me the idea to write yahoo admin... Too bad i cant call them, i live in asia.. overseas call are way too expensive.

Use Killahclaire's advice, it is good. But also, you could have entered your login information in a phishing site. That's a site that designs their page to look like another site's to fool you. If you logged into a phishing site then whoever has that site has your information. It's not as likely so hopefully someone was just guessing your password so your account was locked. I would hate for that to happen to me because I run a big Yahoo Group and EVERYTHING would be gone, I would lose my group, EVERYTHING if my account was hacked. Even all my photos and everything else. So I feel for you and I hope you can get your account back. Good luck, and happy holidays! :)

I did but until now i can't log in. The other day i even send an email to my sister. I actually uses that account daily. I just feel bad to lose all the photos i stored in my yahoo album. Its our family pictures taken last christmas, one of the rare times the family was complete. We don't get to have family pictures often, so i kinda treasure those.
I also moderate a group, but there are 2 other moderators so i'm not so worried about that the group. Maybe you are right i probably logged in a phishing site... too bad. =((
