Can people REALLY move things with their mind?

Ok, we've all heard about this, right? People who have some special gifts or powers or "something" which allows them to actually move inanimate objects just by thinking about it! Or, people who can bend metals (spoons?) just by thinking about it! And more. They call this "telekinesis" or "psychokinesis". See more at:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telekinesis. I have never personally 'experienced' any of these things "first-hand" (i.e., actually been in the presence of someone performing them), but I've read enough in magazines and watched enough on TV and researched enough online, that I'm convinced there must be some truth to the claims. Has anyone out there actually ever SEEN this kind of thing being done? What was it like? What did you do to "prove" it was genuine?

Actually, everyone has this magick power, you just have to get in tune with it. I am a pagan and magick is a way of life for me and my husband. Yes, I have personally seen my husband move an object accross the table. It is very much real. It takes alot of concentration, and beleif. But trust me, it is real.

Aha...a real practitioner! When you say you are a "pagan", I'm not sure what you mean. WikipediA's explanation of that seems a little 'broad' and ambiguous. But...no matter...if you've seen it happen, who can dispute that, right? Do you have any clue what the "energy" source is? Thanks for the post.

The energy source is mind and concentration.

Hmmmmmm........tough to grasp, but if you say it works, I'll accept that. Is there any special preparation or "chant" or "spell" or anything similar that's needed to make it work?

Im sorry ladies and gentlemen but there is no such power that allows someone to move a object with their mind. Lets say for example you were trying to move a pencil that was on a table using nothing but the power of your mind. Firstly, the pencil is just a bit of graphite and wood sitting on a table, it has no life - its just a bit of wood. So, in order to move you would have to apply physical force to the object to move it, simple. Also, if what you are proposing is true then humans have the ability to use and control brainwaves in order to manipulate objects - and that is also not the case. Uri Geller bending spoons is part of your argument for this so called mind power? Bending spoons is a very old trick, there were people before Uri Geller who did and there have been many people since, and many people have invented different ways to "bend spoons" and none of them have anything to do mind power. We would all like to think we have some sort of ability to move things with our mind and stuff like that but it seems to me as if you have been watching to many episodes of so called mind freaks like criss angel.

Well, darkness01...I'll let the other posts speak for themselves. Like I said, I've never seen this kind of thing myself, so I really don't know if it's possible. However, some of the responses here sound pretty convincing to me...can't be 100% sure, but what's to gain by making these things up? Personally, I'm convinced the mind DOES have capabilities well beyond what we know (in general) today. I believe the mind is capable of tapping into energies that exist all around us...perhaps in another 'dimension' we know little about just now. The nearest I can come to personal experience with anything like this is: My father used to tell us how he and a group of his friends would get together and sit around a table with their hands on the table, and they'd somehow get that table to bounce up and down, and even 'walk around the room' of its own volition. Granted, I did not see this either, but my oldest brother and sisters attested to seeing it before my dad decided it was "not a good thing to be dabbling in", and stopped it altogether, because, as he put it, "I decided I was dealing with something 'evil'...it just didn't feel right". Who knows? Thanks for the post.

Well, am not exactly sure whether such people actually exist today, but one thing that i do know of is that such people did exist many years back. THey were really great people, with extreme concentration, and basically, i'd call them mind freaks. Whatever, those people were great, and i'd love to possess that 'power'. Seriously, i mean, it could make life a lot easier but then, unfair too! Anyways, i guess such people did exist in the past. As of today, am not sure, but a little research should be enough!

Thanks, lifetalk! Don't know if you remember people like Uri Geller, who supposedly could bend spoons just by thinking about it. He got rich & famous with it back in his day (1970's). There have been numerous others who've claimed similar abilities. You're right, though...shouldn't take a lot of research to find more. Thanks again!

I've seen something a bit different with my own eyes. In some traditional martial art in asian countries (ex. Indonesia), there is this martial arts where you can practice to develop this kind of skill. But it's not easy. With it, you can throw some bad guys who wants to attack you without you need to touch them. You can walk and even drive with your eyes closed, and you can find missing objects without using your eyes. First time I saw it, it's a bit scarry and weird, but it's true.

Ooookaay...! Does sound a bit 'eerie'. Must be an awesome level of belief and faith and discipline to manage those things...but I believe it's possible. Thanks for the post.
