Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me!!! Wrong!!! Contrary to popular belief words stick with you like glue. They get down in your inner soul. If someone you love says something to you that you don't like or calls you a name it really hurts .. Or even when a stranger says something out of the way, it bothers you. The things you are saying to your children now are going to stick with them. They will remember things you have said forever.. When something bothers you it plays over and over in your head... Words are the mmost powerful thing on this earth...Remember the World was formed with words...O.K. Let Me Have IT...

I agree with what you are saying. Words do hurt. And not only do the words hurt but the tone and the way a person says them can hurt. What I mean by that is that you can say something one way and comes across as okay. And then if you say it another way, it can come across as rude. So yes, to quote you, "words are one of the most powerful things on earth".

I have to agree with you. That's why I think it's so important to bite your tongue before saying anything you might regret later.

Especially children you have to watch what you say to them " As a man thinketh so is he" Your children will become the image you paint in front of them. We should tell them that they are smart, handsome and pretty and things of that sort.

words are very powerful. words can break you if you allow them to. but i have learned something that i play in my head over and over and it is a buffer from nonsense that poeple say about me. "what other people think about you is none of your business." after that i don't allow those things to get to me. as for my children, i use to let the words fly. but in the last few years i have learned to not speak in anger. i have learned to talk to them even if they did get in trouble in a positive tone. i never want a situation to break them. and i would never want my words to scare them.

Yes, they do hurt when it is something personal about yourself.
