Hubby and I went for a drive on our own the other day , we look after my parents most days but we planned to have the day to ourselves . we went or a drive and on the way home on the motorway we ( hubby suggested) we go a road we had never gone before ( lol sound like star-trek )anyway , my hubby's hobby is maps and he has been my navigator for years , he knows all of the roads for thousands of miles , I have driven on many of them , anyway we got to a crossroads and he said go right so I went right , we were going further and further and the road started to go up into the hills , we passed a castle he has always wanted to see (Kincardine castle ) we live in Scotland: the road got narrower and it was getting more twisty and bendy all the time ,there was a sheer drop to my right , he kept saying we will be there in a minute , we came to a dead end which was a working farm , I knocked on the farm door and the dogs were going mad barking ,the lady was lovely and said the track stopped there and we would have to go all the way back , I wanted to just sit there and refuse lol BUT I had to drive all the way back , we were so lucky we didn't met anything on the road there or back lol , we laughed about it all say and my son Ross wouldn't believe we had gotten lost at all , ( never been known ) it was an experience we wont forget in a hurry , as we got to where we were supposed to be hubby said , " if we had turned left at the junction we only had 2 miles to go , ( instead of about15 lol.

i think you did not think twice first before you did the move or you might just be over confident that you can do it all by yourself? was there nobody in the surroundings or on your way that you might can ask if you were on the right direction? sometimes it is nice to ask help from somebody more famlliear to the surrounding.

I have only been lost a few times and this is mainly due to what you described. Being out in the middle of no where makes it hard to stop and get directions. Usually at the first sign of being lost I stop at a gas station and ask for directions. I'm usually in the general vicinity. I hate to be lost. :)

Sounds like you had a good experince from this adventure. I don't think we have ever got lost but we usually find our way back if we did get lost we would ask for directions.

I get lost every time I go out to a city I don't know. I don't have any sense of direction. I always ask someone to go with me for this trips since I know that if I go alone I will get lost for sure. I'm seriously thinking of buying a gprs to help me in my journeys.

Weemam...stomping my feet...I am so jealous...I want to get lost in the scotish country side...I so want to see scotlans.Did you take photos and will you be loading them?It sound like a fun adventure. The last time I went to Canada I got lost...I kept ending back at the same wrong corner..I was taking a short cut back to the boarder that a local told me about..He was probably laughing his head off cause I think he gave me the wrong directions on purpose as he seemed annoyed cause I asked. Yes! Many times, I am absolutely without a shadow of doubt appalling at directions and when I'm driving trying to understand and read a map is beyond me, maybe I should invest in one of those TomTom or navigator things to help me! However, I am not to proud to stop to ask for directions! If someone gives me directions over the phone I just go blank, I write them down but still I'll get lost, hopeless case. Yes there are some narrow roads up in bonnie Scotland and I had a nightmare trying to navigate my way through Kyle of Lochalsh going North!

Yes I have been lost before one day while living in the country side, my daughter came to visit and wanted to go out and see the satellite as it is the biggest one in the Southern Hemisphere, and she asked me if I knew the way well I was fairly new there but I had been there before so I was quite sure that I knew where I was going anyway I forgot to tell her to turn right so I thought oh well we shall turn right at the next section well would you believe that there was no right turn anywhere to be seen and my daughter was saying there is no more right turns we were very lucky as the petrol was low by this time but finally got to a petrol station 30 miles away. Oh boy now she just says oh don't ask Mum for directions and we have a laugh!!

LOL! Well at least you got a lovely drive out of it all (OUCH! I felt that kick from here!). Your hubby and my hubby would get along just fine. If he gives me a wrong direction, after everything is straightened out, he'll tell me that I didn't hear him right and that's why we went the extra distance. LOL

What an adventure. Lucky you had daylight and lucky you had enough fuel. I'd love to travel around Scotland and Wales by car...I think it would be fascinating passing field after field with hedges and stiles and villages with lovely thatched cottages and the pubs and the occasional castle. Wow! I once became lost in an area of suburban Sydney I was totally unfamiliar with. I was unable to find any sort of a main road. I can't understand why I didn't have my book of maps which always stayed in the car. But of course if I was going to become lost it had to be on the day I didn't have it with me. Evebntually, I didn't have a clue so I just kept turning left. It wasn't long before I found myself on the main road but it was still a while before my nerves settled down. Lol.

When I started to drive on my own, I was always going the wrong way and even having policemen signaled me to stop. Its different to have someone driving for you and driving on your own. Its fortunate of me though not to bump into a post, LOL. I've been driving for years now and was so used to the way around here. :)

i've been lost when I was 5 years old in the mall. Good thing, I got a good memory that time and I went back to the paking lot, where our car was. Mom was crying and I saw her on the entrance and ran to her,. I got scolded for walking away with her,but i know she wasn't really mad at all.She just got nervous for I was lost. ;D

Olah weemam!(",) How you doing?(",) Yes, I do have an experience of getting lost. There was a time when I stayed in my sister's place in a different city because it is where the venue of my examination. At first, I was with my friends/classmates after the exam. We chilled out in the mall where we celebrated for at last we made it through the examination process. After that, one by one we went home. Unfortunately, there was no one who is going the same way as I am. So, I went home alone though I know I'm not so sure which road to take. I kept on texting my sister but her replies were late. When I received her text I was a bit scared because I knew I made the wrong ride. So I took off and made another ride as what she instructed me to do. It was such a relief when I saw familiar places again. It was almost night when I arrived home. The next time I went there, I rode a taxi.(".) I'm not really good when it comes to directions.hehehe.

When i was 10, i went to a fare with my parents. It was all crowdy. Not a place to put a step even. My parents were holding my hand tight but suddenly, some push kept me blowing away and i was lost. I was scared as a little boy. I was crying for my parents. Then, some nice guy came and helped me out. He asked me the telephone number and dropped me at my house but it was already 4 hours that i met my parents again. They were scared too.

this is a great discussion in deed, Cheers mate, i too was lost went i was a kid at the age of 5 when v all went to a theme park, there my parents and my brothers and sisters, all were very much interested in the games, and nobody cared about me. I was kept aside, after sometime, i was attracted by a ice cream, so i went after that and was lost in the huge crowd. I cried a lot, and one guy came to me and asked whats the problem, i then told that I lost my parents here, he then took me to the enquiry office, from there they announced my name. Finally my parents reached the enquiry spot and found me. That was really a thrilling experience...

I got lost once when I was visiting Boston with my mother. It was so scary! I was wandering around the Boston Common for about thirty minutes, crying, when she found me. I learned never to separate from my parents
