We haven't ever really locked our doors even when we go away.I don't know if I can lay my hand on a key to the front door.If anyone wanted to get in they can open the front door and get past 3 very large protective dogs.My sister in law stopped one day when no one was here .She was going to run in the bathroom but the dogs wouldn't let her in and they know her very well but the also know she doesn't live here. And my neighbors are home alot so I'm well protected.
We leave our windows open all summer and don't lock them in the winter. We live in a small town but I'm on the outskirts.
Do you lock doors and windows?
Do you live in a city, town, out in the country.Do you think your pets can protect your place?
Cheers

We lock the front door but the garage door is easily opened as is the sliding glass door in the back. Of course if someone wanted to come in the windows would be easy enough to get past as well. Then of course once they were in they would have to worry about a collie and 10 cats. They wouldn't be able to move very far before being tripped by one of them. They'd end up making a racket so I don't worry too much about someone coming into the house.

In this day and age, I think one must lock doors and windows. Where I live, it is so far out from town, nobody would know. But, I am not taking any chances. My two cats would not be any protection I'm saddly to say. :)

I live in a city of 3 million people. I don't lock my doors either. It is early spring here and still snowing so I haven't opened the windows yet, but I do leave them open in the summer though. Anyone can just walk into my place, and I doubt that my cats would do anything about it. But the neighbourhood is pretty quiet.

I lock my front door, we set the alarm when everyone leaves. I do know that the roomie's dog will go after anyone that jumps the fence (she went after the cable guy once.) Even tho my across the street neighbor is almost always out in the afternoons, I figure that I'd rather be safe than sorry - I can't replace all the stuff I've got.

honey this is something I always say we have to change as we very rarely lock our doors when we are in - including at nights! We live in the outskirts of a small city in a highly populated area and I know I should lock the doors at night but we just don't seem to do it - I also worry that if there was a fire or something we wouldn't be able to find the keys to get out! I don't think Tia would scare anyone off but you never know!!! I do always lock the door when the house is empty though - and if David is away overnight for any reason! xxxx

I always lock my doors and windows. I live in a rural area, but I cannot chance it. Crime can happen any place at anytime, I donot want to make it easier for criminals. I have heard of too many rapes because of windows being left open. I donot have any pets, but I have an alarm system.

I always, always, always lock the doors, even when I am home... quite likely nothing will happen, but I am just a naturally insecure person like that and will do whatever makes me feel safe.

I think 3 big dogs will beat house keys any day, however I believe a good burgular if they know you and want to get in would probably go armed with some decent steak and dog bones.

We have to lock the doors during nights since we don't have any dogs at house. We leave the windows open and all the windows are meshed well not allowing the mosquitoes to enter the house. I live in a city but still we need to protect ourselves so we lock the doors and keep the house well protected.

Definitely! i am alone in the night coz my husband work at night so i should the doors and the window.Good for you coz you have a dog but ven if i have a dog i would really lock my doors and window for safety.Sometimes the dog can protect you but their are technique or food for the dog to be quiete right now or to make the dog sleep,so its better to be ready all the time.I live in a city anyway, and their are so many thiefs here, they even broke the car or houses of our neighbor so why would i give that a chance to happen on me.I don't have a pet.

We keep our doors locked always.I'm not kinda ok with the idea of the doors being opened and besides someone might just pop in.I don't want anything like that to be happening around my place.I live in an apartment and i've been in this situation once when some stranger actually popped open the door and just peeped in.Fortunately i was sitting right next to the door and i fired her and asked her why she did it.She smiled and said oops, wrong door. Was is really necessary for me to see all this.So i prefer locking the door.Even when i go outside i lock the doors.I don't mind keeping the doors open though.
Moreover i don't have pets at my place. So I prefer to lock the door.

I recently started living on my own on a second floor condo. When I come in for the night, I not only lock the door but I also put the chain up. I will keep my sliding door open to the balcony, but when I go to bed, it gets closed, locked and tightened. I'm sure my place is very safe, but I'm still a little paranoid being by myself. In fact, I have to constantly have at least one light on at all times. If I go from the living room to the bedroom, I turn the hallway light on, then I'll turn the living room off and go to the bedroom. The lady who owned the unit before me actually left her door open for six months and nothing was disturbed. She was an older lady and she went to Arizona for the winter. Well, she left the door slightly ajar and there was money on a shelf right when you walk in that was all there when she came back. To me, that is amazing!

I live in a town and we lock everything we can .Sometimes double. There are people during the day trying to break into a house even when you are at home.Someone comes to your front door to have a talk and his/her partner goes to the back door to steal everything he can steel.
Creepy right?
