Do you waste money on maternity clothes?

I think buying maternity clothes is a complete waste of money. You don't look pregnant until you are way over five months. Then you start buying maternity clothes that you are going to wear for just four or five months. These clothes are also quite expensive as per my experience says. What do you think about this? Please share your views.
Thanks in advance.

I never wasted money on maternity clothes. When I got to big for my own clothes I borrowed my siblings clothing because some of them wore a bigger size. I figured if I didn't need to waste money on clothing that I was only going to wear while I was pregnant.

I was in the same frame of mind - i wore my PJ pants & tracksuit pants throughout my pregnancy & even when i got bigger - all my jeans were low-rise ones so they fit very snuggly underneath my very large baby belly!
I just wore most of my usual clothes that were baggy anyway & even though my Mum bought me a couple things, i was pretty well set & didn't want to spend that kind of money on clothes i might never wear again!

I was in maternity clothes within two months. I was super scrawny when I got prego and showed really quick, I was always measuring a month ahead. I did screw up and bought a lot of mediums, but towards the middle I was in larges and the end I was wearing tents lol. So this next time around I'm just going to buy large or extra large. I am fortunate that a lot of my friends are done having kids so they gave me their maternity clothes. I'll give that all aways someday when I know I'm done. I have had a few friends that never had to buy much because they didn't get huge, but women in my family look like they've swallowed a large watermelon when they get pregnant.
In the last town I lived in, they had a maternity/baby consignment shop and I found jeans for $5 and shirts for $2, that's not bad at all, mamas need to be comfy!

i also think its a waste of money. the only reason i even bought maternity clothes during my first pregnancy is becuase i was working. this time around, i am not working, so i spent almost the entire time in joggers and big t-shirts. me and my sister in law seem to be taking turns being pregnant. she was pregnant first, and when i became pregnant, she lent me her clothes. when she got pregnant agaain, i sent back her clothes along with the clothes i bought. now, this is our 4th year taking turns with that clothes...and i am the one holding all of the clothes. we both plan on having more kids, so at least we arent spending lots of money buying new clothes for each time around. we keep storaging them and then trading them. it works out well this way.

people are all different..some people show much earlier than 5 months..especially if its a second or third child...and sometimes trying to wear your normal clothes just isnt comfortable...i look for clothes at the second hand shops since they are rarely worn out...and i also sell my clothes back tothem when i no longer need them...

I agree and disagree. I agree that for women that show that late in their pregnancies it's a waste of money, but in cases like me...I have started showing with every pregnancy in my 2nd month. It's crazy I know, but it's the way it is. HOWEVER, maternity clothes are way too overpriced for anyone. There is no reason for clothes that will be worn for such a short amount of time to cost so darn much!! Especially when you're trying to have the money to get things for the baby.

Well I agree that maternity clothing is pretty much a waste, however I still buy at least some. Then I also buy regular (not maternity) yoga pants and stuff I can wear when not pregnant. That being said though, I like to buy at least a couple nice pairs of pants from gap or old navy maternity and I pretty much buy all tops matenrity because they just fit better, and if you plan to have more than one child you can wear the stuff again. But I do hate to spend the money, because most of it is pretty ugly too!
