Japanese Restaurants

I went to a Japanese restaurant tonight. It was only the second time I ate at one and the first time was a hibachi restaurant where they cooked right at the table.
Tonight I ordered chicken hibachi....it was so good. I've never had real sushi and almost ordered it but was so overwhelmed by the selection and had no idea what to get.
What do you order at a Japanese restaurant?
Btw, after the meal they brought us a teeny bowl of peach wine..at least I think it was peach wine...very sweet, but very good!

I really love vegetable tempura, and as a Sushi Lover...I would start with California Rolls, they are the least sushi like, but if you want to go for it, tuna rolls are good and so are the ones with soft shelled crab (I dont remember the correct name)
