I heard it somewhere that if you want to be successful then you should pick the one thing that you love doing more than anything else and find a way to make money at it. For me that answer comes quite easily FISHING, So the question now is how to make money at it. The catch 22 however is that I need ideas that are low cost to start up. Any suggestions ?

You know what i red this one that if you know alot of things in a certain thing like yours which is fishing you can make money by doing an online job information. Maybe you can do this as a sideline cause I knwo you want this kind of hobby in action so just make it and maybe sell it to some kind of market.

That's a question that would need some research. I guess you would have to advertize yourself as a guide in some tourist areas and brochures. Can you find good fishing equipment cheap on ebay? I sure hope that someone else has better ideas than I do.

is it possible for you to make a deal with a local fish shop or restaurant, it really depends on what you country will allow you to do, I often see small vans here in Australia in some roadside rest areas selling fish, cars pull over for the drivers to rest and but fish whilr they are there, I hope someone comes up with something to help you....good luck.

Here are a few ideas: 1) selling bait 2) making and selling fishing lures 3) selling fish you catch to local restaraunts or stores 4) Taxidermy - either sell the fish to a taxidermist or IF you know how and already hav eth eequipment, do it yourself. 5) Give fishing lessons 6) Fishing guide 7) Write a book about fishing - could sell it on-line - http://www.lulu.com will publish it free for you and even have it listed on their site for people to purchase 8) Photographer - take pictures of the areas where you fish and the fish you catch 9) contact manufacturers of fishing equipment and lures and offer to write reviews of their products Hope at least one of these helps.

I knew a man that made a lot of money making flies and selling them online. My grandfather made beautiful hand made rods. A man I dated at one time made money taking tourist out fishing - all he had was a small bass boat. Or, how about fishing lessons? I think best since cost is an issue is to start something small and remember it can build into something more.

Its recommended to focus on your dream. The more work you put into it; the more money you'll make out of it if it is profitable. You should try to research what you most want to do. Even then, whatever your goal, you're not guaranteed to reach it. That's how life is - unfair.

Well i guess you can get into taking a licence and openin a fishing pool...not for hunt but for fun...a recreational club for people to enjoy fishin as you do.... and then since you too have keen interest in the same thing, you'd definitley be able to put it up al;ongwith other so mny activites in fishing to attract more and more people....I am sure about it that if a person wants he can do anything,....and moreover, one who makes his leisure his earning, he is amongst the most successful entrepreneurs.... I agree there is an investent in the starting, but it will pay you for sure!!!

I have heard this same saying. And I am trying to put it into reality... so I understand the challenge of it. It seems to me that the most natural fit for you would be to try to establish yourself as a fishing guide. That would allow you to do your own fishing, to teach fishing, and to get paid by people for taking them out in the wilderness to the best fishing places. Since you are relying on KNOWLEDGE and SKILL, you would not have to make much of a capital investment up front. The trick lies in "becoming known." Your best bet would be to create some nice color brochures (you can do the layout on your computer, and get it printed somewhere that has a nice color laser printer) and distribute them to your local chamber of commerce, as well as to tourist information offices and hotels in your area. Your profile says "York, PA" so ideally you'd be able to get clients from larger cities who want to have a "fishing weekend" but don't really know where to go. A nice web site would be a must, as well-- with some nice photos of some of your prize catches, and descriptions of the various tours you might offer-- day trip, weekend trip, etc.

How about your web cam on a web page. Like the fishing channel!! Live fishing, maybe fast forward sometimes when it's slow to get to the real action. Get a little aluminium boat, fishing reel, ice chest, motor, cam corder and go. Let me know if you think it's a good idea. And good luck

I think there are people who will pay you to take them fishing. Just get the word out that you know how to fish-and you might know of some good places to fish.

there must be some other factors that makes one successful apart from doing your single favorite thing,as what one is good at,and one's advantage. for instance,is there a strong chace for you to go to NBA to play,if you like playing basketball and expect to earn your fame and money in sports world. many factors should be taken into account. incidentally, there is nothing wrong with finshing,if you really believe it is your best bet.and never quit, never.

While there will surely be other factors to consider, this discussion was to perhaps give me an idea that I have not previously idea'd (tehe)

Yes, I totally believe in the idea that one should go after one's dreams or goals and pursue that as a chosen career or profession--I was kind of a disappointment to the family since I was a science geek in school and my family thought I'd go the science field as a major in college-but alas my calling, my bliss has always been the arts---so yes, one should go after your dreams.. as for how to turn your own passion of fishing into a lucrative "career"--okay here are a few ideas---do you have any money to invest at all?? Is it possible you could open your OWN fishstore and sell your freshly caught fish?? OR--maybe go another route...a little more daring perhaps..how about opening up a resturant which the specialty of course is fresh caught fish--all depends on if you have any money to invest in such ideas--what's the saying...sometimes to MAKE money you have to spend it--so either idea would definitely be an investment not only in money but in time as well...but it could wind up beiing the investment of your life and become a success

Unfortunately financial capital is an issue and while I do understand that sometimes you have to spend it to make it, at this point I must try for an alternative. Thanks for the insight.
