The Frog and the Scorpion

A scorpion comes up to a frog as its preparing to cross a stream and asks for a ride. "I can't let you on my back," the frog says, "you're a scorpion--you'll kill me." "No, I won't," the scorpion says. The frog looks at him dubiously, but the scorpion says "you're different--I promise I won't." The frog lets the scorpion on his back and embarks on his journey across the water. Halfway through, the scorpion stings the frog in the back. "You promised you wouldn't!" The frog exclaims. "Now we're both going to die." "I can't help it--I'm a scorpion." Ever find yourself forgetting that you're dealing with a scorpion, take your eye off the stinger, and get stung? Happens to me quite a bit.
