Do you shop at any kind of 2nd hand store? I do, I love to browse through all kinds of second hand shops & look at what people are selling. I also like yard sales, I have got some really good bargins on some things. There are some things that I won't buy second hand though. Underclothes & things like that. I found a really good hydraulic jack for $35, I looked up the price at wal-mart.com and that same jack sells for about $80. My hubby was so impressed! If you do shop at 2nd hand shops, what kind of bargins have you found? If you don't, why not?

I love to bargain shop the deals you can find are incredible. With the little ones it is cheaper to buy clothes for her there than anywhere else she goes threw the so quick. Books are another favorite, I love to read and it could become a very expensive hobby if i didn't buy my books second hand. I also draw the line with underclothes never. I am sooooooooo happy it is almost yard sale season again. New treasures here i come lol.

I love shopping at second hand stores, garage sales and out at our local auction. On my last trip to the second hand store I picked up a Barbie lap top for my 3 year old for $3 and a doll bed that was made out of the heavy duty plastic for $2. The top part of the bed comes off and you can store things under it for the dolls, such as blankets and doll clothes.
I have picked up furniture and clothing, knock knacks and books just all kinds of things and am always amazed when I find a great bargain. It's something we usually do as a family as the kids love to do this and it's easy to give them a few dollars and let them shop on their own for the things they want. :)

I love second hand stores. You never know what little gem you are going to find. I adore music and still insist on having original cds, most of my collection (almost 1000) has come from either second hand music stores or second hand stores in general. A couple of my favourite second hand stores often have special cd sales when they get overstocked or if it is approaching stock taking time. One place back in January had all cds for $1, many hours later I was walking out $50 poorer, many a gem walked out of the store that day. I see little point going to a retail store and paying between $20-30 for something someone will consider crap and be in a used store in a couple of weeks time for a couple of bucks.
A month or so ago, I was in a second hand store and happened to find an old vinyl record that my mother had when I was a kid that my father somehow managed to sit on and break. She'd looked for years to get it again, he'd promised he'd get her another copy, which of course never happened. It cost a whole 0.25cents.
I've picked up quite a few dvds, games for consoles (even a console itself) and books in the past. Along with the odd kitchen item and bric-brac for the house.

I love to shop at thrift stores and yard sales! I've bought many of my kids' clothes at yard sales. Most of the time, the clothes have barely been worn. I can also find toys based on their likes, like Care Bears, and pay a fraction of the cost of what it would cost at Walmart or Toy r Us.

My wife and I do a lot of auctions usually.
Theres always good deals to be had there.
Our house is furnished from auctions. We have a living room set from an auction. Got it really cheap. The end tabnles we bought from Howard Johnson Hotel auction. Our dining room set was from an auction at a furniture store. Another great baragin. Our bedroom set was the best bargain gotten from an auction house. We even have bohgt used police cars from County Sherriffs auctions. So the auctions is our way of shopping 2nd hand stores. Hahaha. Thanks also for this discussion.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do all the time - my favourites are vintage items from clothes and furniture to books and housewares. Probably 90-95% of what I own is thrifted...it's great for my bank account (and a lot of other things) and I have an apartment full of lovely and well-made items that have really cost me very little.
