I can't believe that if Toronto loses tommorrow night they'll be done for the year AGAIN! I know that they aren't the greatest team in the world, but at the begining of the year they were mopping the floor with teams. Then they started to get hurt and banged up again! UGGGGH! Am I the only one that thinks the McCabe deal was stupid, I mean, if you take a kid and give him everthing, what does he have to work towards. Now on to MR. Sundin. You have gotta love the guy. Superstar? No. He could however have been, somewhere else. That's gotta drive him crazy!
He's one of those guy's who always plays smart hockey, doesn't alway work very hard, goes for stretches that make you wonder if he'll ever hit the net again, but, he's alway had a good sense for the game. Who knows? Maybe, if he had gotten to play with a Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, Ovetchkin, Selanne, Kariya or Forsberg type player what he may have become? And no you can't include Mogilny in that group, I love the guy, but he was never really close.

Ahh i cant believe it either, but i have a gut feeling that toronto will beat the islanders. Having to go to Montreal to decide who gets in. No doubt Sundin could of been big if he played with a big superstar player, but toronto will never trade him anytime soon.

More or less,it'a pity.Sometimes we love some superstar a little crazy,but he usually performan not so good,it make us feel disappoint.But we should think that the stars themselves have their interests,too.They also want to enjoy themselves in spare time.So when he plays badly,we should forgive him,we believe he can play it well soon!

I started getting into hockey when there were only 2 Canadian teams and the Toronto Maple Leafs were on almost every Sat. night(thank you,Mr Hewitt for the memories).I followed them when the WHA came along and bought all of their young defensemen and a few key forwards.I watched Sittler and Lanny take the team to the semis.I watched players come and go.But year after year they seem to come up short.Financially Toronto is in fine shape.But what is the problem then??Is it time to look at ALL of the management and start again by bringing in someone who can start from scratch?The Maple Leaf farm system is weak which means the talent scouts are not doing their job as,lets say,Vancouver or Dallas.The nucleaus of the team in the past few years has been quite old(hockey speaking)and the Leafs seemed to think this was THE year and sold its future for players who were to have helped then.This system has not worked for them and it is time to reconsider the whole package.Mr. Sundin is a very good player and when he is "on" he can be a star.He is inconsistent though and as you pointed out could have prospered from being with players with the additional drive and determination.With McCabe,this was not his best year but he is young and CAN become the leader on the defense they will need.Mogilny had his best years in Vancouver surrounded by some other talent.The Leafs could win the last 2 games of the season and still not make the playoffs despite another 80 plus point season.Of course with this new method of points,they could win 20 games,lose 62 games,and still have a 100 point season.I hope the Maple Leafs (and all the Canadian teams) make into next year's playoffs and a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup.
