The best advise that I can give is to start quality discussions and respond with quality answers. It's not about how many discussions you can start or how many responses you can give but the quality of the discussions and the responses.
So with that said. What is quality? Quality at mylot seems to be defined in the length of the response and the length of the discussion. That the discussion actually engages for further discussion.
We earn by starting discussions but the discussion must get a response for you to actually earn. I don't start many discussions and if I by chance as I did today start 2 discussions then I don't start the second until the first has received responses, usually somewhere around 5 or 10 responses. Make sure that you rate your discussions with the rating buttons, see the guidelines for proper rating definitions. Also pick best response when you feel that your discussions have been resolved. This will not stop members from responding if they have something to say and you will continue to earn as additional responses come in. Don't through the best response away to soon.
I think that earnings are earned more by responding. Always give lengthly responses and stay on topic this will get you plus ratings. You will earn more for the length of your response also.
You can also earn by uploading photos. At this time you can upload relevant photos into discussions that you start and into the interest section only. After you have posted 500 responses you will be able to add photos to other members discussions. Although you don't earn as much for photos in discussions as you do to the interest section, they do add to the discussion when relevant.
The other way to earn is with referrals. For each referral that you get you will earn 25%. This doesn't affect their earnings in any way. Although getting referrals and keeping them active proves both difficult and challenging.
Make friends and respond to discussions that your friends start. This is key to success here at mylot. Pick your friends carefully. Look for members with common interests, ones that start quality discussions and give great responses.
After posting 100 responses you will get a star these stars are your mylot reputation and range from 1 through 10. The higher the number the higher your reputation.
Hope this helps you to earn more and that I have answered you questions. You won't get rich here but the more fun that you have, and the less you concentrate on earnings the more you will actually earn. Happy mylotting! :)

thanks a lot for your great advise.but i would really like to know about the quality you talked about.does length alone play a part?can we use shorthand in our reaponses?does grammar play a role?
i really need to know all about this.i am new and i dont know much about it.please guide me.although this community is fun i would enjoy participating in all types of discussions but i would reaaly love to know about the earning part.what is the basis of our payment and does different types of responses have different payments?if yes then what are their denominations?
i would also like to know about how yo receive my payments once iachieve the payout.

Some believe that grammar and spelling play a role when it comes to quality. I don't judge by that, as many members here English isn't their first language. I try really hard to decipher to be able to respond, and sometimes will even ask for clarification as mylot suggests in the guidelines.
Quality is based on the length of the response and staying on topic. So even if you respond with a long response if it had nothing to do with the discussion then you in most cases won't get paid and even worse it can be deleted.
Each member seems to earn differently and I think that this is based on how others rate the responses, this is only my own interpretation and have nothing but my own observations to base it on. I can say that I have read many discussions where a member says they responded to 50 + discussions and earned only .12 for example. That has not happened to me. I have only one answered more than 50+ discussions in a day and I earned over $2. I would solely base this on my lengthly responses to their 1 liners. Most 1 liners I don't think even get paid.
I can't say what denominations we earn as I really don't know. Also it would be against the guidelines for me to quote specifics.
As for withdrawing you earnings, you just need to set up pay pal or e-gold depending on where your at set the minimum to where you want to cash out at, this can be found in your profile in edit preferences I believe. The pay out works this way we have from the 1st of the month until the last day to earn all of those that meet their cash out minimum will receive payment on or before the 15th of the following month. Last month I received payment on the 12th.
Also remember that all earnings are an estimate until payout. This means that our earnings can fluctuate from day to day, you can actually have earnings taken away or be given to you. This happens from discussions that you may have responded to that were deleted for violating guidelines or that a discussion that you started was deleted. So best to avoid anything that could be deleted. I see fluctuations about every 4 days. Then big ones right before payout when mylot really cleans house. :)
I don't know if you earn more for starting discussions or for responding. I think that it's a combination of both. Full participation if you will. When you do all of the things that mylot asks us to do, adding tags, starting quality discussions, responding with quality, uploading pictures, rating, picking best responses. I think that on the days that all of those things are done that you can see an increase in earnings for full participation. Again this is just my own observations from how it's worked for me.
I hope that I answered your questions and will check back and see if you have additional questions. I'm happy to share my experience here at mylot.
