Does it bug you when too many people say hi at a grocery store?

I went to the grocery store tonight and I think every single person working tonight said hi and was I finding everything okay. I don't mind being asked or greeted once or twice but not by every single person that works there. It's almost as bad as no one helping you at a store. Anyone else every feel that way?

I think it is fantastic that you were greeted by so many associates. I would have worried if no one said anything. Now, if they were following you down the aisle like they were scared of you shoplifting, which I had happen by the way...(that's the last time I wear a tshirt and sweats to a bridal store)I would be a little miffed. But other wise, just be happy that they were concerned that you were finding things fine and that they appreciate your business.

That's a good point. If you might be shoplifting, associates will come up to you and say hi so you realize you've been spotted. Except, I wouldn't. Because we would get a $100 gift card if we caught someone, so why would I want them to stop? I'd want them to steal something while I pretended to see nothing, and then I'd call them in. Unfortunately though, I never got anyone. So it didn't really work.

I bet they were expecting a mystery shopper or something similar. When I worked in retail, if someone from corporate was expected to be in to evaluate us, we had to smile and say hi to everyone (it was very annoying for us too).
I find it kind of annoying too. If you're not near the door, why greet people? If I saw people coming in from one entrance, I would greet them. If they were already in the store, only if the came to the department would I greet them.

It doesn't bother me. After all what does it hurt to say hi? I would rather that they say hi when I don't need any help than to not be able to find them when I do need help.
