Are these poor creatures pathetic or what?

She lived through it and even smells sweet! Now all the boy puppies love her. LOL
It is actually genetic and while we think it's a reaction or nervous tick, they claim it's not really. It's just their nature to shiver. They've never proven why from all I've read. I'd love to hear if someone does have the answer though!

She is so sweet and looks just like my Schatzie (my avatar) who also hates baths but she is go and play is the water hose in the garden and get soaked to the skin and it doesn't bother her a bit. I always keep some "Doggy Wipes" for emergencies, I get them at Petsmart and they are great. My two chichi's left a comment at her photo.

LOL... too cute. Thanks! I love the doggie wipes too. At first I thought I'd just buy baby wipes and get the same thing but there is a little difference in ingredients so I'd rather be safe then sorry. I use mine to keep around her little eyes clean especially as they water so much, a normal trait for them but still icky! LOL
Thanks for the comments!

I had one dog, she lives with my ex husband now :(, who would jump right into the tub when you told her to. She didn't like her bath, just the same as any other dog I have known, but she was very tolerant. My dog now lets my kids bathe him but he's too big for me to handle.

When I had a chihuahua mine did the same thing. It was so funny watching him shake so fast. They will survive. I just kept mine wrapped up in a towel afterwards and held him so he would get warm.

Well please don't ask HER if she will survive... I'm certain she would beg to differ. Horrible owner that I am, cleaning her like that! LOL

:) My mother used to have a pug that HATED getting a bath. We would have to gang up on him and get him in the bathroom and my mother would shut the door behind him before she wrestled him into the tub. He would cower on the floor of the tub and whimper all the way thru the bath and when she'd let him out of the tub, he would get mad and bark at her feet! She'd always laugh at him which would make him even more mad and he'd bark even harder. LOL

They do claim that if you start them out bathing young it's not as hard to get them accustomed. I'm not so sure if that's really true or not but I figure they don't have a choice. They may not need baths every week but surely every now and then won't kill them!!! Although they would say otherwise if they could talk, I'm sure! LOL

Yeah my pup shakes like that too. My jack mix sits on my shoulders taunting him as i lean over the tub to bathe him. They are like 2 kids picking at each other.

They are simply pathetic. I have a 4 year old Chi and she does the same thing as your Chi when she gets a bath. And don't insult her by giving her a bath in the sink, then she lays it on thicker. She wants a bath in the tub, because they she feels like a Pit Bull! lol It's quite hysterical to see this 4.5 lbs Chi in a hug bathtub.

hehehe My dog does this too
He's always hated baths, but its only gotten worse as he got older. Now he whines and tries to get out instead of just standing there shaking and whining.
I had to give him a bath yesterday morning and oh my gosh I was wishing that Jason wash home to hold him up so I could wash and rinse him. What a chore.
