Annoying ringtones anyone?

Ok, I think I get more and more annoyed with cell phones as more and more people get them. I've been standing in a line when someone's phone goes off and starts playing something extremely annoying, either a scream or something extremely loud or even one guy who had this vulgar saying! If I had small kids with me I would have been really irritated! And don't even start on the generic monotone midi style ringtones that some people have! Spend a buck and get a real ring tone please!!! LOL
Has anyone else had similar experiences with this?

Yes I have. I was in a store just browsing and quite happy in my own little world (reading birthday cards) when someone's cell phone starts to make the loudest noise and I almost just out of my skin, my heart was racing, I really got a scare. I'm surpised that it did't give me a heart attack.

What's so amazing is that they put the ringtone on so loud that they could hear the dang thing a mile away!!!!! Are they that afraid they will miss a call or have a sudden bout of deafness attack?

well i would be one of those annoying people because i have all different FREE ringtones on my phone but mostly when i am out in public i have my phone on vibrate so that i will not annoy anyone. I set different ringtones for different people that way i know who is calling me by the ringtone and i can decide if i want to answer it before i have to go running for it.

When will there be a rule/law that says awful ringtones should be banned from public places?
I have the experiences to many times. I choose my ringtones carefully and make sure I turn on the vibration when I'm at a public place.
Once someone's cellphone was blasting with music from the chinese opera. I was at a public bus stop. There were quite a few others too. We looked at each other. I knew very well that it wasn't my cell. However, nobody made the move to answer the phone. The noise was getting into my nerve! I took a deep breath and was going to give that 'someone' a piece of my mind, when a very young teenager answered the phone. She looked at us apologetically. Then, she explained that her sister had played a prank on her by downloading such a bad ringtone for her as a birthday gift!

Well, in our country almost people has cellphones. Thank God I haven't met anyone with vulgar ringtones. Usually the ringtones here are funny ones. Like a voice of a cartoon character like Homer. Sometimes people use their favorite song as a ringtone. Then sometimes, mostly parents, use the voice of their kids as their ringtone.

Yes I have had that experience before too. Not at all pleasant, I must say. I cannot stand those who choose those annoying ringtones and blast them so loud as if they are so worried that no one knows they have a phone. What to do? Inconsiderate people are everywhere.
