going abroad for first time...any suggestions?

i'm going on holiday abroad for the first time in september and don't have a clue where to go...i'd like somewhere not too hot..quite cheap..and i want to do a bit of shopping,sightseeing,i love my food,but i'd get bored stiff lying on a beach. any suggestions?

Hey Fishwife..What about Scotland..I've heard it's wonderful...lol.. Come to USA Sweets....Bring Mo with ya...I'll intoduce you to the lovely Adirondack Mountains..Ya like horses?

We went to Rimini in Italy a few times and it was brilliant , the people were really nice to and were all so good with Ross , he was just wee at the time , If I got my pick of where to go in the world it would be Rimini xx
