how old was your child when you had them completely potty trained? my daughter will be 3 in July, she gets lazy about going in her potty quite a bit because she'd rather play, she's very smart but this toilet training isn't really happening! Any fun ideas on how to get them to go in the potty?

My oldest daughter was about 2.5 years when she was fully potty trained. I started around her second birthday. She got the peeing part down pretty quick but HATED pooping nothe potty. SHe wouldn't. She would rather just not poop.
My step daughter I started at about 22 months old and took to it rther quickly because she wanted to be like the older girls. She was fully potty trained at about 27 months, with accidents at night now and then.
My son is 17 months right now and I am not sure how to start with a boy. He is soooo active and never sits still I cant imagne him sitting still to pee/poop on the potty!

My oldest was 3 years and 2 months old when she was fully trained (both day and night). My son was 2 1/2 when he was trained during the day. He is 5 1/2 now and still soaks through his pull-up most nights. My middle daughter was 3 years and 8 months old when she finally started using the potty during the day. Nothing we did could convince her to use the potty. She had been using it well just after we moved when she was 2 1/2 and then one day she just stopped. Then we had a baby the next year and she regressed even further--not wanting to even try/crying if we made her sit on the potty. She would hide in her closet and go in her pants.
Finally she stayed with my sister in law for a couple of weeks last summer when she was 3 and she told her (and this is awful but it worked for her) that she couldn't go home to mommy until she used the potty. The next day she was using it full time with no accidents. Talk about motivation. She has only had a couple of accidents since then (it's been about 9 months). She is almost 4 1/2 and is just now starting to stay dry at night. Two weeks now with only 1 wet pull up--YAY.
My youngest just turned one today so I don't have to worry about potty training for another year with her.

My son will be turning three later this month, and it was almost two weeks ago that we embarked on him being fully potty trained. I had tried tons of different techniques with him before our successful attempt. What finally worked for him was that one day I let him run around in nothing but a t-shirt. Luckily for me he did not pee or poop anywhere except for on his potty. And he has been dry (with the exception of a very few accidents) and diaper-free since that day. Sometimes I still have to bribe him or remind him to get him to use the potty, but overall he's now doing great, even overnight.
