What was your first thought upon waking up?

I normally woke at 5 in the morning. I will sit and stare out the window while nursing my first cup of coffee on my knee. I don't recognize myself at this time of the day. I'm between sleeping and waking, between calm and rush, between not-knowing and knowing.
However, today, I woke up up with a sense of loss. Something was missing. I had a sense of things being left incomplete, unfinished. Even before my mind could clamp down and focus on what it was exactly I was longing for, my inner voice was already calling out for it. This wouldn't be the first time I've gotten up with this cry ringing in my head. It was familiar yet strange. So, I put pen to paper and took down the thoughts that came in sporadic spurts, at first, and then in a steady stream.
I have this habit of putting down my thoughts and feelings. But it isn't everyday that I'm feeling this way. Most days, I will woke up with a good start feeling calm and relaxed. I like to know what was your first thought upon waking up today. Did you woke up thinking about the things that should be done for the day? Did you woke up feeling excited and happy? Or Did you woke up without any thoughts at all? Do share your thoughts.

My first thought after waking up was, what to make for breakfast and for lunch box to my daughter. First I offer my quick prayer to God and then a mother's duty will start. However if it is a holiday, there will not be any haste in cooking, hence I usually give attention to birds' chirping sounds, gentle breeze sound and the sound of the fan which gives a feeling of life and gives me energy to start the day with cheerful mood.

My first thought this morning was, oh good grief I have so much to do today. I have to get a load of washing done, and clean the house ready for the Easter holiday, I hve guests coming down, I need to go shopping, all the mundane chores to be done. I was up and about early today too, so I could spend a little time here too.

I don't really have any thoughts. I would have already planned the things I want to do the night before. So I would just go straight to those stuffs.

I have a cold at the moment, so my coughing woke me up. My husband got out of bed, and came out to the couch, but I wanted to get up because I couldn't sleep anymore, so I had to send him back to bed, so my coughing out here didn't keep him awake.
Not really sure what my first thought was. Probably "I wish this damn cold would go away!"

This morning my alarm went off at 5:30 am, and I thought, Ugh, it's too early yet, need more sleep. But I forced myself up because my next thought was, I have to get up, my daughter has to get to the airport. Then anxiety hit, I was putting my 16 year old on a plane for the first time.
That was my morning, so how was the rest of your day?

I woke up with the intention of getting a sociology paper checked before handing it in....it took me AGES to actually print it off due to a series of misfortunes! I can laugh at it now but it was like the universe was conspiring against me this morning..

Not to discount your thoughts, but usually I think of getting up, and going to the bathroom. I wonder, first of all, why I woke up before the alarm rang, and then think of how many minutes I can cuddle with my hubby. I get all geared up, or at least I did this morning, because today is the last day of third grade state assessments, my third grade students have a major project due in social studies, and I have to work at my second job, and take my clients out to eat, and if someone has goofed up, be transportation for the entire program for the evening. So I am already buzzing. Time to get socks on, and get out the door.

Aww Charms, that is some real inner storms huh? I personally don't wake up disturbed in mind unless I've had a bad dream. I am usually calm after a good night's sleep. Today when I woke up (at 9, that's my usual time -- now stop laughing) all I thought of was what to have for breakfast..lol! I woke up calm as ever, well rested:)

When I first woke up this morning, I was feeling stressed out. My maried life is not going very good and I am stressed out about it because of course he thinks everything is just peachy. Finances are going good but I just cannot seem to get happy in my life. My first thoughts was to get the laundry going and get a cup of coffee after making the bed. Then I thought about turning on the news and signing onto the computer for the day and getting busy here in Mylot. I am having a hard time getting motivated because i am not happy in my life at all.

Today I woke up late but I also went to bed very late. I woke up at 12:00 pm London/Lisbon time. And strangely enough I woke up with the thought of a helicopter ride. Lol, I think it's due to my strange dreams I have and I have a lot of those. I don't think I always wake up thinking the same thing ever, but can't promise you that. All I know is today I woke up thinking "I want to go on a helicopter ride" I've never been on one and I'm a bit afraid of heights and sharp things and well the helicopter sort of incorporates those two elements lol. Well that's my morning thought! I was somewhat relaxed put also grinning with the strange thought I had.

I woke up today when my partner bought me my first drink and a kiss. I opened one eye and asked if I could go back to sleep LOL.
I didn't sleep well last night and so when I felt my partner waking me, I thought "Oh God no, it CAN'T be time!"
Usually I'm okay, my kids will come in and sit and talk to me while I wake up and then they kiss me and hug me and tell me that they love me before heading off to school. It's pretty cute lol.
Just every so often I wake and I know I didn't sleep so well. Thats when I find it hard to function properly.

My immediate thoughts are about my children and I say a prayer for them every morning that they should be protected from negative thoughts and energy. I also meditate for myself for a few minutes to relax my body and mind so I can face the day.

Every morning when i wake up.. the first thing that cross my mind is... I AM LATE FOR WORK!!!!! (except for holiday...heheh).
I sleep late at most night.. so not easy to open my eyes in the morning.
But normally when i wake up, before i really open my eyes and get up from bed i will plan my day. What i want to do at work and the hours when i get back from work..

Hi charms88. A month too late to answer but then better late than never is my motto. I woke up at 4 this morning and I thought - "Oh no, I did not do any mylotting!" I hurriedly opened the computer but it would not start. I tried and tried for over an hour. The sun was already up when I was at last able to log in. Such is the impact of myLot in myLife for the past month. Thanks and have a great day!

Love your Bunny in deep thoughts photo - soo cute.
My first thought on waking is what day is it? So that I can work out how quickly I need to jump out of bed! I find it amazing that I usually manage to go straight to it without having to recall something to remind me. How can a brain do that? Sleep for so long and then straight away know where and when it is without even opening my eyes or hearing anything.

it depends. There are times when I try to remember what I dreamt, but most of the times. I let my brain process and think fast, wondering what is the day today? because I have a irregular waking up pattern, that is why, I have to know if it is schoolday,or weekend, then if it is weekend, I go back to sleep, that's the only time I can fully energized my body. Keep smiling!;D Have a good day!.. ^^

How nice, archer. It was my habit to pray before sleeping. I found that I by doing that I have more things to complain to God, LOL! Seriously, I'm usually not myself in the morning. Too many things to do no matter how tired I am. By the night I hit the bed, I have a peaceful, quiet time where I can pray fervently and read the Bible as well.
