I always bring a small notebook with me. And yes I list my expenses everyday in that notebook.
I think saving is important, so before I spend my money into something unimportant I saved it, so I can't used it.
And listing is very important, so I list everything

When I decided I wanted to cut my job down to part time my hubby and I sat down and listed all our expenses, monthly, weekly and daily and then looked to see what we could cut out or cut down on. It really worked when we saw all of our unnecessary spending. But it took discipline to break the habit of stopping for coffee and starting to take lunch to work instead of eating out. We are now putting all that extra money into the savings account, and some of it into our kids college accounts. We quit smoking and that alone put an extra $100 for each of our 3 kids into their college funds, and now his VA checks go straight into the savings instead of going toward bills. I also put my MyLot earnings into my personal savings account. It may not be a lot, but every little bit helps. It's all about discipline and watching your spending habits.
