Can long term use of Trans Fat be reversed

I was in Addition-elle and Pennington's the other day as well as watching TV, observing the general population minus my friends many of whom are Dutch and came over from there. As it were, I noticed while my Dutch friends are fairly healthy, many of the people I have observed are overweight and pudgy. I gathered from that that trans fat was not a part of the diet of the Netherlands when they were growing up. However I, like many here in Canada (excluding the native Aboriginals who could hunt their food and those who grew most of their own food) had been fed food containing trans fat from an early age. Now the trans fat has been reduced, but in doing so, is it too late? Can sthe effect of long time accumulation of trans fat (which our parents and grandparents ignorantly gave us) over a long period of time be reserved or are we just stuck with our overweightness, tendency to diabetes, heart conditions, and just pudgy and sloppy bodies.

well i know that trans fat can do alot of damage to our bodies even though some of us love to have it.i think the only way would be to exercise the best that you can to lose that fat and tighten up the muscles in order for it to be reversed.have a great day hon.pattie

I wish it were that easy. The trans fat seems to congregate in your stomach and that is the hardest fat to loose. I have lose a lot on my legs, and my arms, but that part below my stomach I cannot get rid of.

I don't know if it can have a effect on our bodies. But I am thinking how our parents and grandparents lived and they were healthy and they had not diet.Beucase probably everything was natural and becuase they live working hard and even if they had soe free times, they would do something like sawing or making crafts. But people today are so lazy and comfortable, no wonder they are much more often sick and obese.

It does. I have noticed it when I go to Safeway, and I see the women at my age who are pudgy, some of them have walkers. The only healthy ones are the ones who were not born in Canada who came for Europe or some other part. You also have to know is that we were fed this trans fat since we were in grade school, that is over fifty years of this gop and even though I went for walks, and did exercise this poison was going in my system and we could not afford to buy junk food. My dad was disabled and could only work light jobs. In fact, when we were planning our trip and wanted travelers insurance, the lady agent almost had a heart attack that I did not have diabetes, no high blood pressure or the other ills, and I think it is because these trans fats do cause these damages.

I don't know how people eat in Canada, but I see hear in USA it is very different from Europe. Can you believe I was 22 when I taste first time hamburger? And I cannot say i don't like it, but I would just not eat it, becuase it is not good for me. But not many people in USA realize that and then you go to the supermarket and see this people driving on those little wheel chair throught the store and not becuase they cannot walk, becuase they are so fat and they cannot breath. But are they trying to do something for that? If I watch them , they have all the bad food in theirs carts.

We had a couple in front of us. The woman was so fat and the man moved oh so slow and they did not have a healthy thing in their cart. Me, we had green onions, milk , peppers and tomatoes. We already had lettuce left over, so we did not need to buy anymore, but you can see why they are that way and I have a hard time losing weight, but at least, I can really move. I do not just dawdle like a turtle. We are getting food that is trans fat free, but I was told that if it is less than one percent, they do not record it. I think I will have to go back to butter.

There can be long term effects of it, like blocked arteries etc, but the risks of illness due to it can be reduced by going on a health kick. You would be surprised at how little you have to do these days to lose weight. Me, I just have to get pregnant and then 6 months of sticking my head in the toilet means the weight has balanced. Funny though, because that's when you don't want to be losing weight! lol.

My cup size really grew. My mother was the same way, she was what they call overly endowed. And back in the fifties and sixties, you were not allowed to tell it, well that would mean I would have had to either enter a nunnery if I were Roman Catholic and I am not, or remain a spinster if I had to keep it quiet. I have to look into pilates. It does sound interesting.

Well, I can tell you know, I've had 4 kids and I definitely can't get rid of the stretched tummy muscles! lol. I know that my body shows what I am, a mother of 4 and that is fine by me. Remember, there is no such thing as a quick fix for weight loss. it takes dedication and understanding of how the body works. Practically, you need to have a degree in biology! lol.

Oh yes. Stretch marks and the baby bag! lol. I got them too, but I've had 4 now, so is expected. It is not necessarily fat causing it, but over stretched skin that needs tightening. Pilates is a great way of doing this. Very gentle and beneficial for the whole body. You sound as though you are on the right track. Maybe a gym would benefit you too. They offer classes that can better target the areas you want to work on.

I was watching a show on this very topic yesterday. I was so impressed by what they said and the results I saw, I bought the book online and am waiting for it to arrive. The title..YOU Staying Young. It was about the damage we do to our bodies, and how to reverse it. What to eat how to exercise. Dr OZ was this dr's name and it was Oprah. you can go to Oprah.com The results were mind blowing.

Thanks, I'll do that. It has given me hope. I would hate to have me have all this trans fat in me stay forever.
