The other day my 14 mo. old son had a runny nose and watery eyes. He wouldn't eat and he couldn't sleep. I was thinking allergies, but then I talked to my friend who has 2 sons. She said it sounded like he was getting his molars, so I checked. Sure enough, I can feel one coming in. I was up all night the other night with him sleeping on the couch. He was just tossing and turning all night. He has finally started eating again, but is still moody. When he cut his front teeth, it was no problem. He didn't even fuss, but now he's a little cranky puss. I don't blame him of course. His poor little mouth! Any ideas as for how to soothe him? I am giving him Tylenol already. Thanks!!

Try giving him something he can get back there and gnaw on. Sometimes those teething biscuits work well, as they can usually jam them back to the molars and just gnaw - and if you put them in the freezer, they're nice and cold and soothing. Another option is a clean washcloth. Wet it, twist it to a long stick-like shape, and freeze it. Some kids will gnaw on those, too.
