Parent or Friend

Is it good practice to be on a 'friend' level with your children and have fewer restrictions or should there be a definate line between the two?

There should be a definite line between parenting and being a friend. Kids need to learn that there are authority figures that will always be incharge and will never be your friend. Once the child becomes an adult and has been fully responsible for themselves for over 3 years, then you can befriend them.
