We see everyday on the news and movies people in war and it has become something in the back of our minds wich we usually ignore. Question though arises, have you ever had someone you actually know go to war. How did this make you feel? cheers Plunt

I joined a fraternity in college. Sigma Alpha Epsilon to be exact. In my time there, I had three 'little brothers' choose me as their mentor. The last one was a transfer student, so he was only a year younger than me despite me being a senior and him being classified as a freshman. He was a member of the Army Reserves. Sure enough, his unit was mobilized and sent for training. He was put through trucker school, and deployed to Kuwait a few months ago. He's been in Iraq doing supply missions. His unit piled money together and got internet hooked up in their base. He's on AIM and easy to reach via email. They were only there a few weeks before they got their first combat patch. He knew the risks, so got married just before he left. In addition to him, another of my fraternity brothers also served. He was a junior when I pledged. He joined the Army Rangers and went through officers school after graduation from college. He served in Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq. His time wasn't as nerve wrecking as my little B's time, just because of the different roles they were there for. Either way, it's certainly hard knowing that they're there. Every time there's a news report for soldiers killed from Michigan in Iraq, it hits pretty close to home. It doesn't help that both of them managed to get stationed in Al-Anbar, which is reportedly the worst area to be stationed. One is home, but the other can't be home soon enough.

wow alot more details than i expected (thanks alot) so you definatly have experience about this stuff. ofcourse i hope all turns out for the best. How they set up internet was very impressive must of been pretty pricey but i dont know what i would do without internet. no matter what job you have wether you are a marine or a trucker in this situation you are in danger and i am sure everyone who knows him is proud of him. Well hope all turns out for the best and it very interesting to hear people with real experience with close friends going to war. cheers Plunt
