Are dogs truly man's best friends?

I think they are. Mine are always there, waiting anxiously to see me. Always happy when I come home. I can snuggle them without question, I can kiss them and they always love it. Basically, they are there no matter what, without ever judging.
Perhaps humans could use a lesson in life from them?

I love my cats, but they only snuggle when they want to be snuggled. Dogs snuggle all the time. My brother's dog, Katie, loved me to pieces. Whenever I went to visit, she was near me. Very loyal.

No question about it! My doggy, not only a friend but a good care taker of me.When ever he fills that we are in trouble he is always ahead to safeguard me.when I go outside without him,he is always at door, does his eyes small and expressions are --no words!....and ..when I return to home. His movements are so fast with true joy on face and expressions are....no words!

I feel much safer with my dogs around! They bark at anyone, especially males, coming near my door! I love that. Not so great for the dating times though! LOL

It depends on how you raise the dog. If you raise the dog with love and care it will fight for you til the end.

True. Some raise them as "work" dogs and they are more independent. I've never raised a dog as anything but a family dog, living indoors so I can't imagine even remotely thinking of them as anything else.

There is no truer friend than a dog. Maxxx is always there when I need a pillow or a wrestling partner. He is always the first to greet me at the door when I come home and obviously depressed when I leave. He talks to me and warns me when there are strangers around, tells me that he loves me, and protects me from my husband's cats and my stepson. LOL. He's kissable and huggable but prefers being massaged and scratched. He's also a very good kisser. He's very faithful to his master (my son who is here on weekends), but loves everyone. His favorite person outside our family is the mailman who occasionally brings cookies. When the mailman arrives in our neighborhood, Maxxx announces it for all the neighbors to hear and feels that this is the career for which he was born.

By the way, for those who don't already know, I am Maxxx's Mommy....so dogs are this WOMAN's best friend. In my household we also have cats and they are my husband's best friend. Cover your dog's ears now...my husband says he doesn't want to have ANYTHING to do with dogs, but he belies himself by feeding the dog toast every morning at breakfast, cake at lunch and even sometimes serving the dog his kibble at the right times. He protects the cats fiercely from my baby who loves the cats and the cats love him in return, but David won't admit it.

Dogs truly are man's best friends as they are so wonderful and loving and are very helpful and respectful of their owner. Dogs are very beautiful animals and would love to have one but am not home enough to take care of one so I am getting a cat. Dogs love to play around and play ball or go for a swim or walk or do anything with their owner. i agree that humans could learn a lesson from them. :-)

I think so. I think cats are as well. They love us unconditionally. They can really make us feel like we are something special. They will let us rant and rave when we need to vent. I know mine when I'm upset comes up and comforts me and tries to make me feel better. You can't ask for a better friend then them.

For me, you will never find a more loving and loyal companion than a dog. Cats are nice and loving, the best way to describe cats is that they don't have owners they have staff, :) Dogs are very loyal to thier owners and yes they are best friends. They love us unconditionally.
