How did YOU meet your best friend?

I was just thinking about this subject and wondering how everyone here met their best friend? Do you remember the exact details? What makes this person your best friend? I remember meeting my best friend, who just happens to be my wife. I was in college and visiting one of my good friends from high school. He and his school friends were planning a spring break trip and invited me along. We were planning the trip and she happened to be there cause she was friends of the people there. We ended up going on spring break together and have been close ever since. She’s so easy to talk to, she’s the first person I think who truly knows my entire life story. She has always been there for me, even when I was dating other girls in the past. What about you? What’s your story?

That's so sweet. My best friend also happens to be my husband. And we met under similar circumstances as you! But, I really don't remember all the details. It's a little fuzzy. The strongest first memories I have with him are when we took a trip with a bunch of our mutual friends in college. I was friends with his friends, and vice versa, but we had never met before. I remember getting really frustrated on that trip because it's hard to get a group of about 14 people to get going on anything. So, I would walk off trying to initiate movement, while everybody else stood around trying to figure out what to do. And, he would always follow. I think he was just making sure that I was ok most of the time, which was sweet. I remember, on the same trip, I had to go meet my brother to pick up the military discounted theme park tickets that he had gotten for us. It was a little bit of a drive, and no one wanted to go with me. He not only volunteered to go with me, he also volunteered to drive. We spent the entire time talking, both going and coming back. It seems like we just hit it off right from the start. We managed to stay updated with each other when he moved about 500 miles away, talking on the phone for hours and communicating on instant messenger, up until our paths physically crossed again and we decided to be lovers...and then partners for life. He's still the easiest person in the world for me to talk to.

that sounds so cool... it's nice that someone else was also able to find a lover who is a best friend, too... Thanks!

I met my best friend when my office did not tell me I was being replaced and this person arrived explaining to me HE was the new co-ordinator.Needless to say it caught me completely offguard and we did not start off the best of friends. He did not know he was replacing me (it was a sports project) but had been told it was just starting up.We finally did get the situation cleared up and had alot in common. That was almost 30 years ago.

That is awesome! It's so good that you have been able to hold on to that friendship for that long. It's also nice to see that you got through the problems and find things in common. Thanks!

I really like this question because it gives a reason to daydream about the beginning of mine and my husband's relationship. We both worked at Bed Bath and Beyond. I fell in love with him the very first time I saw him. A friend of ours hooked us up and we started dating casually. Then a few months later we got really close and actually announced that we were dating. A few months after that we moved into our own apartment, this to me was like playing house. I was only eighteen and he was 24 so I was still like a little kid in many ways. He had already been on his own in the marine corps. so he was used to it. I wanted to get married to him and he proposed one day right before I went to work. His timing was funny because I had just woken up and I was SICK AS A DOG!!! He was so nervous he dropped the ring. We got married at the court house and the next day we went to the recruiting office and he signed the papers to reenlist in the marine corps. He is the best person, he is always there to teach me how to do anything and he is so patient which is great (since I have a lot of blonde moments!) He is the one person that I know I could do anything in front of and feel perfectly ok about it. He keeps me safe especially right now since I am so far away from my family. He is the love of my life, my best friend, and best of all my husband.
