Sure, why not? The military has great dicipline and you can learn a lot.

Well maybe then it should be obligatory for everybody in those countries that it is like israel..not only for men like my country... Both sexes are equal right?so should have the same obligations i guess.

Hi, I joined the military after high school, not by choice mind you, but regardless I am learning a lot of stuff that I would not learn elsewhere.

Both my boys want to do this when they graduate high school. Are you happy being in the military other than learning many new things?

Young Marines - Young Marines with Commanding Officer on Graduation Day.
I don't believe any parents really want to see their kids head off to war. Right now, that's pretty much what will happen if they go right into the service. They'll be trained and off they go. I do believe the Military is an excellent experience to learn: teamwork, discipline, appreciation for our country and purpose of the leaders in it. Our military is a wonderful honor to take part in. As far as teenagers, they are at their prime..health, strength, and learning capabilities. If they get into ROTC or take some college courses, they'll be more valuable and be able to go in with a little rank. The military will find their strengths and guide them to the most appropriate career to help them succeed in an area that they are able to succeed in. My teens fear being drafted in. All I can tell them is.....that if it comes down to it, would you fight to protect your family, grandparents, loved ones if another country or groups of people were going to hurt them? They'll say YES. That's what you'll be doing. Both my husband and my family have Grandparents & Parents that have served in the Military and it was a time of honor in their lives, no matter what Wars they served in.

I agree if military is obligatory. In my country Greece it is..you see we have good neighbours..Turkey , Albania and instead of living peacefully we spent billions of dollars to buy weapons and people suffer especially in turkey and albania where average salary is 200 euros a month. But anyhow, my point is that i wnet abroad to study and now i am doing my phD and i will have to join when i become 28..it is killing me.and if i dont join i dont have a passport. so better first, rather than after. But the best thing which is utopic is not to need armies at all.

I think joining the army after high school is a good decision if a person is not considering college or does not have enough money to go. It gives a good kickstart to a wide variety of skills that can be used in careers after their military term is up and its a good source of money to pay for college if that person decides to go into college after. If that person is not considering college the military actually gives a good job for someone who would probably working in lower retail management/fast food restaurants.

i do think that they should have a choice in this, it is not fair if they do not wish to, i understand it would be a good move but it is not what everyone is cut out for, i know alot of people who it wouldnt suit and they would probably panic if they were forced. thats just my opinion, the militaary is not for everyone.
