This opens up so many possibilities that it is very hard to pick the best choice. One thing I would see about this is the problems with traveling forward in time. We know nothing about what it would be like. It's one thing to see this in a movie but the reality of it is something else. So there is no way to know what you may take with you or what time frame would be better.
Going back would be much better. You have a frame of reference here and then could frame your purpose around that. The most intriguing part of that would be the idea that you could, in doing so, change history. But we have to admit that if we could not do that what would be the point of going unless it were to go back and tell someone something you wish you could have.
Time travel is an intriguing idea but how practical would it truly be?
If I picked a time I would want to be able to stop something horrific that happened back then because I would be the only one that knew it was about to happen.
But in so doing what would be the ramifications. All of time up until the current would change because of that one event.
Example would be if you stopped the sinking of the titanic. Not only would all those lives be saved and all the lives that would have come from them after that but so much was learned about safety from that accident that would not have been brought out.
So while time travel is intriguing I am not so sure I would care to take it.

If it's possible, I'll go back to the time when Japan is about to attack Pearl Harbour. The warning given for an imminent attack was an hour late. If the warning was given, like 5 hours before the attack, then it will completely alter the course of history in the Pacific.
I'll be a spy and feed the US all the intelligence they needed regarding Japan's decision to attack in the Pacific. I would even present myself to go with the US naval fleet to intercept the Japanese fleet. Then a battle will commence wherein the sunken destroyers, battleships, and carriers will participate in that battle.
I'll go back to the present time with everything changed. Without any scars of the horrors of war. I'll bring back with me a copy of intelligence I fed the US regarding the attack on Pearl Harbour.

I would go back in time to the pioneer days. When Indians were about the land freely. Running a small ranch and doing things without computers, phones and such. I would enjoy cooking on the woodstove and making quilts and gathering herbs. Much of what I can do now but share with all the modern conveniences.

YES YES and yes I would. I would go back to when i was born. I would talk to me as i was growing up and tell myself all the things i needed to make myself better. Of course knowing me i wouldn't even listen to me. But i would give it a shot. I would also like to go back to the late 1800s in Oregon. Just to see how it really was to be a pioneer in Oregon. I might also go ahead in the future just to see what i was like 20 or 30 years from now. And to see how well my children have done. Maybe go as high as when i would be 124 to see if i actually made it I have decided i will live to be 125 so if i went to when i was 124 then i would know i probably lived to be 125.
