Good luck. Getting disability for fibro is really hard to do.

I understand your pain. SSI isso very hard to get and almost everyone who files for it is denied the first time. also you need to have very good documation from your dr. saying that you are disabled and why it is unwise and unhealthy for you to work. It dose take a long time, they are hopeing you will give up, but dont let them beat you , a person with your alliment deserves it.God bless.

I hope that your claim goes through this time. I too have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The pain is amazing. I am only 31 so I doubt that I could be approved for SSI. My husband is constantly telling me to try seing as how I struggle to just do general housework. Usually I can take it very easy for a few days and then spend a day trying to clean and then I am down for the count. I hate it. My heart goes out to you and I wish you the best. Please post if you hear anything back!

I have been Turned down 3 times for it even though I have had four Doctors tell them I cannot work at any kind of Job. I want to work its driving me crazy sitting home all day long. I Cannot drive anymore. Iwas diagnosed with MS and have had 17 knee surgeries and 2 knee replacements an no one wants to help me and i see people who have gotten Disability and do not even need it. It really ticks me off. So now im waiting to see if I get approved for it this time I have to wait about three more weeks to see also have waited 2 years for my hearing which i finally just had 2 weeks ago.

I have bouts of excruciating pinched-nerve pain, have battled extreme migraines so bad that I used to collapse suddenly and without warning (would get the aura right before or right after collapsing), and have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In order to prove that I can't work, when I lived in the state of Idaho (before moving to Washington state), I was made to go through one month of h*** in a sheltered workshop for the moderately-to-severely mentally challenged, where I was put through hard manual labor without any work gloves or eye protection whatsoever, was made to sort fishing licenses by the last two numbers for hours at a time on a tic-tac-toe-like grid (01 goes in the 01 box, 04 goes in the 04 box, 07---have to think about that one a bit---goes in the 07 box), and I was treated as if I could barely count to 10. Never mind that I had gone through some college prior to this. As long as I was in that facility, I was on equal IQ par to a gnat. Whenever I would scream in pain from the hard manual labor (being made to cut----with heavy cutting machinery without gloves and without eye protection---, carry, sort, and toss piles of heavy, thick telephone-pole wire into large wooden bins for hours at a time), I was put in an isolation room, a tiny room with a tiny couch, until I would stop screaming, and would be warned by the supervisor that if I did not obey, I would not get my disability checks. I made 25 cents an hour through this ordeal, in approximately 1991. All this to get on SSI.

I spent five years fighting for long term disability with my work, and disability pension from the government. The government turned me down, I appealed, they turned me down again. I sent yet another letter and got a letter back telling me my file was closed. With work I had to spend all day in mediation with my employer's insurance company to come up with a lump sum settlement. It probably didn't even cover my legal fees. I'm not about to do the math to find out now. That was five years ago. The stress of the litigation killed me. I had private detectives following me around. Even when it was over I still looked over my should for six months. My health has gotten better since then, but now I'm going back down because of the financial struggle and my husband hounding me to go to work. I think stress is the number one instigator of this illness. You do know that it is not only an autoimmune disease, it is neurological as well. Our brains aren't releasing enough of the right chemicals. Find some time to relax and de-stress. I know it is hard but it all I can say. This illness sucks and so does the world around us when it comes to dealing and living. Gentle hugs.
