Do you think horror movies are better today then they were 15+ years ago?

I am a horror buff..Anything with gore and violence I am the first one to see it..Recently I saw The Hills Have Eyes 2, which in all honesty was a great flick, but I prefer the original made way back when...How about yourself?

I think that Hollywood has almost completely lost all originality, creativity and artistry in all of their recent output. It really does all seem to be about film as a product to sell, rather than an art-form, or a well-made film. If you're disappointed by Hollywood horror films in particular, may I recommend Asian horror films, which I find not only original, but truly terrifying (and I've never been scared by even the best Hollywood horror films!). If you've not seen them yet, Ring 1, 2 and 0 (the original Japanese films) are truly nightmarish, and will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck! Not only are Asian horror films scary, they're beautifully made, and far more believable and human in the type of horror and fright they use than the traditional "good V evil" format which Western horror films tend to fall into - it's more a case of human supernatural occurrences, and the resolution is generally about resolving a hidden wrong or atrocity, rather than "banishing" the "evil" spirit. All the best, and I hope these suggestions are of interest to you :-)

i definetly prefer the first hills too. how could you get a better actor for the part than the humongus bald guy they had (i can't remember the actor's name)? i think the effects are way better, but in some cases the plot is lacking.the grunge was horrible. what was up with the meowing kid?LOL
