Good Friday is part of the Holy Week celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church which follows the Catechism laid down by the Roman Catholic Church heirarchy to be followed by its members called the Catholics. They termed as good Friday the day when the Lord Iesous Christ was crucified. It is the day that they celebrate, not the date which may fall on any other day. Good Friday is declared a holiday because there are many Catholics in the world and perhaps they were instrumental in declaring Good Friday as a holiday.
Christians do not celebrate the Holy Week as they follow the doctrines or teachings of the Christian religion laid down in the Holy Bible.
