Why is it that, idiomatic expressions somehow sound a bit funny? Just imagine if you are addressing it to someone who doesn't know the meaning of it, maybe you'll end up in a fight. Can you give more idiomatic expression that sounds funny?

I used to dished this joke to a ballet dancer friend of mine whenever she's performing on stage. Break a leg? How ever did it came to mean "Good Luck?"

If something costs a pretty penny, it is very expensive.

You know Pelo, I really don't know why "break a leg" meant good luck... heheh but it sounds really funny...A pretty penny somehow sounds funny too, especially if you will mean it literally
