I was robbed out of my $50 from e-gold the other day. So I started thinking, is e-gold safe? Can I trust my money on e-gold?
I made a few google search, asked few questions in e-gold related forums, shared experiences with some people who also lost money on e-gold and I learned a few things about e-gold security.
It is very difficult (if not imposible) to hack e-gold. Unless the hacker knows your passphrase and have access to the IP address of your computer.
But there are ways for hackers to plant trojan viruses via websites you visit. This viruses will wait for you to log in to your e-gold account and will clear all your balances to their acount in seconds.
If this happens, there is nothing you could do to get your money back because the e-gold policy is "If you get paid, you stay paid"
E-gold is a very convinient way of handling your comercial transaction online. It will be impractical to avoid using e-gold at all for the fear of being robbed.
I have written a post on tips of how to secure your e-gold account on my blog. I would have posted it here but I have no "paste" privilege and typing the whole thing again is a chore I would not like to partake. So, if you are interested to read further check out my blog http://www.thehyipguy.blogspot.com (yes, you are right, I am using this opportunity to promote my blog too)

Well firstly i am sorry that you lost 50$ and since you lost it then i think egold is not safe well for starters egold does not offer services in India so i do not know how they are so cannot help you much but yes i have heard it is a convient way to do ecommerce on the net and i am sure they must have taken some precautions and i think you should atleast write to the admin and try to recover your hard earned money but yes one cannot stop liveing because of a few sinister people out there and no matter what you do these hackers find a way but i wish they would stop cheating people out of their hard earned money but hey again that is life so good things and bad things happen and i will definately take a look at your blog and try to learn from it

Firt of all, e-gold is being traded world wide. So it is available in India. If you take a look at myLot payment mode, those countries where paypal is not available, the members are being paid via e-gold.
Then, E-gold is SAFE as long as you practice all precautions. I lost my money not because there is a lack of security in the e-gold side but the lack of security on my side.
And, I did wrote to the Admin, but not to recover back my money (since it is useless, if you read the TOS you would know). I wrote just to block the account where my money went to. Which they did promptly
