which one is better-assembled or branded computer?

hi..my friend is interested in getting a computer. she asked me which one is better--assembled computer or company's fully configured one?
well, i had been using an assembled one only. and i prefer that. but i am not confident to suggest her the same.. please do help me out?
what are the configurations that are to be added than the basic speakers and dvd drives?
which brand of computer serves best?

I think a assembled computer is the best way, because some companies are good in some hardwares ...so u can buy different hardwares of different companies..and also u can buy your desired configurations!!!so on my opinion asembled is the best one!!

when comming to speakers CREATIVE speakers is good now,samtron in monitor,logitech in mouse,mercury motherbord,lg drives,intel processor...

actually it depends on your budget. if you got the resources, i would prefer to buy the branded one. its because all the parts are original, you got a warranty, programs installed would be original,too.
if you got a tight budget, then the assembled one would be okay. but i doubt if the programs to be installed would be original. things to consider in buying computers would be the kind of processor to be used, amount of Random Access Memory (RAM) to be installed, LAN card, internal modem, disk drives, hard disk capacity, USB ports are now being used.
