I get the day off plus I get paid for it too.
I work at a school so no one is working today(well, except for the day shift cleaning crew). I work nights, so my long weekend started Thursday morning. Normally my weekend would start in half an hour.
Happy Good Friday/Easter to everyone.

It is a good deal, although I would have worked the day for time and a half if I could have.
I had to work Thanksgiving last year and got paid time and a half which was really nice, but a pain to have had to work.
Enjoy the weekend when your'e off.

I know that a lot of my colleagues are working today and Monday and that I had the opportunity to do the same. However my personal circumstances at the place I work are a bit in flux at the moment so I declined, but pretty much every other year I've worked on Good Friday. I think it goes to show that in very many respects, the understanding of Easter as a religious holiday pretty much goes out of the window when there is money to be made.
I don't think there is any shame in working these days, if the work is available and the money is better, then that will help bring more stability and happiness in one's life. What I am not so keen on is the expectation that people *should* work.

I am at office. We do not have leave. We are not celebrating good friday. Only christian community is celebrating this festival. Others are working as normal day.

I am working today and so is my wife. Neither of us are doing it for OT, but becasue our offices are open. I think a lot of people will be in our same shoes unless they took a personal day or work for a very religious company.

Although I don't do it now, I think I must have been lucky when I was a musician in doing work that I loved.
I would especially work on holidays, like Xmas and New Years Eve harder than at other nights. When I left the music business, it felt odd not to be working for a few years. Good Friday and Easter times were also busy times, so there was no going out in case I got caught up in traffic and couldn't get to my job that night.
Now, as a therapist, I don't see clients on holiday times, probably because they are all out! But if they needed me, I guess I would work. I deal with their emails anyway. I don't think I am a workaholic, but I often find myself suddenly working at times when others wouldn't think of doing it..

I have a job I don't have to take home thankfully, though I think if it was a job I loved I'd probably be a bit of a workaholic too. I often find myself doing my university coursework on holiday days anyway.
Being a professional musician must have been fabulous! I'd love to be able to make a career out of something I enjoy doing for fun too.
