Till recently I used to give home medications for minor illnesses to my children. When they get a fever I used to give Paracetamol, or when they develop a cough, a cough syrup... If it doesnt subside within three days, I seek medical attention. But recenly I was told that I should not use this kind of initial treatments as if it is a major illness, the medications might contradict and it will be diffult for the doctors to prescribe any to cure the disease. What do you think, can anyone hepl me out in this

What this is called is self-medication, isn't it? Well, in case of emergency it would be the possible solution and also when we feel that the intensity of the illness is not so much. Sometimes, keeping in view the past treatment record, I also prefer to use those medicines that were suggested before by some physician. But, I also recommend to visit a Doctor, in case of infants... ammm because "No compromise on and for kids health" ;) God bless you and your family.

well like you i do give home treatments. Specially for minor things like cough, cold, fever and such. i don't see anything wrong with it, specially nowadays when a doctors consultation fee can already amount to the price of the medicine needed to be bought. Financially speaking it will be much less of a burden if you do home medications. Yes, many people think that it's not right to give home remedies, but i think that as long as it's just for minor illnesses i think it will be ok. I think that what you've been doing is just fine and if your home remedies don't work and the illness persist then I think that is the right time to seek medical attention.
