Performance Anxiety, Do you suffer from it? I have search in the internet on how to overcome such problem. I love performing on stage. I love plays, dancing and joining to pageants. Being nervous is normal when your infront of a lot of people. Eventhough i've been in the stage for many times, each time i get there, i still shake my knees. But i never backout or what. I tried my best to conquer it. The first thing is have confidence. Be confident to yourself. You are not alone, there are a lot of people out there who are like you that performs infront of people. Second is be prepared. Always be ready. NEVER do the last minute practice. Or always be aware what and why you are on stage. If you are prepared, i gaurantee, nothing can go wrong. On the day of your erformance, just relax. Take a deep breath, stretch your arms and walk around and notice the pleasant sensation. I know it's not much but i hope it can help.

I still get butterlies in my stomach before I go on stage but once the music starts I really enjoy it.
I don't have a secret to relaxing before a performance but the things you suggested would probably work for many people. I guess I'm lucky that I always have a friend or two at gigs so talking to them usually takes my mind off being nervous.

I think most people have fear of public speaking or stage fright. Some performers like Barbra Streisand, have been paralyzed by their fear. Some even take medication for it. I am a big believer in deep breathing and meditation though. It has worked wonders for me.

I think the best thing to overcome stage fright is to just enjoy the time. But if you want a clever and funny way to overcome stage fright, then I know one. I've learned this from a cartoon show that I've watched in Cartoon Network. It's called The Lulu Show. One of the characters said, if you want to overcome stage fright, just imagine the audience wearing only their underwear. Hehe!
