There are three actors most well know for playing Poirot Peter Ustinov, Albert Finney and most recently David Suchet. Who fits your image of the character ? Who do you think is the definitive Poirot? I have to say that David Suchet has, since he first appeared as the character, always been my perfect image of Poirot

I agree with you, has to be David Suchet. The other two are good but they seem to be a bit camp and over the top

I too love David Suchet as Hercule Poirot. He would probably be my favorite. I did also enjoy Albert Finney. I do think that he was good as well. Although I am still unsure about what I think about Peter Ustinov as Poirot. I'm not sure I'm a huge fan, but I'm still somewhat undecided. However, I still would say that David Suchet is my favorite.

I have to admit to having always preferred seeing David Suchet in the role ever since he first started doing it. It just seems to fit him perfectly and he really does the accent well - you can just see his character being lifted from the pages of Christie's book onto the screen when he is playing Poirot. I do agree with the response above that the other two seem rather camp - almost like they're playing in a pantomime!

Poirot is best for me also as David Suchet. He is him to a tee. I just wish we would get to see him in a big screen appearance as poirot instead of just the small screen. I have seen lots of the films and tv movies and the BBC series and I still want more.

It has to be David Suchet. Peter Ustinov played him as a funny man and Albert Finney was too stiff. David has just the right amount of stiffness and false modesty (?). He has just the right amount of humor played with a little twinkle in the eye. He is the perfect Poirot.
