Snow in April!

United States

We've had 80F or 70F days for the last month and then yesterday the temperature dropped below freezing and it snowed! As far as I remember it has never snowed in April, and I just can't believe that it happened. It actually stuck on the ground despite the warm weather and this morning there was snow on my car. I think this definitely proves that the climate is changing. Has anything weird like this happened in your weather lately?

I'm in PA and so it was pretty much the same here. Right now my thermometer reads 24F. We bought the baby a new spring jacket and were so glad to not have to stick him in his snow suit anymore...he got to wear the jacket for 2 days and then it was back to the suit, so frustrating because he hates it and can barely move in it. He's almost 5 months old already so he does not like sitting still so car rides have been horrible this week! I heard something funny on the radio though...the weather guy was saying that the owners of ski resorts must be really confused because ski season opened with baseball weather and baseball season opened with ski weather! It kind of makes you wonder what this summer will be like. Since El Nina is gone I know they're predicting more named tropical storms/hurricanes with a higher amount actually making landfall on the coast than usual. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I know what you mean, this whole year is backwards. I just hope that it doesn't stay cold that long. And yeah I do fear what will happen this summer.

We had basically the same thing happen to us here in NE Indiana. I was so enjoying the warm weather and here it is feeling like winter again. It's simply awful! I do remember, however, several years ago, back when I was in high school, that it did snow in early April. I only remember this because it was during spring break. What awful weather to have on spring break! I'm hoping it warms up again very soon.

I live in NJ and we have had snow in April in the past in fact they predicted snow for this weekend, but so far no snow happened thankfully. We have had beautiful weather the last week, but the last few days it has gotten colder, and I am not sure if we will have snow this weekend or not, I hope not. But it wouldn't be the first time. I remember having gotten pretty new spring dress for Easter one year only to get snowed in with more than a foot of snow.

We had snow last night also. I don't believe that I have ever seen snow in April in the south. I was just amazed when my daughter came in and said it was snowing. That was the big conversation at the grocery store to day. It snowed alot in April in Vermont but never in Alabama.
