Life has been so entirely hectic lately I almost spaced my moms birthday, as well as my own. How sad is that? Her birthday was yesterday. And mine is today. We are getting together for lunch today to celebrate. We have celebrated together every year since I was very young. We always have cake and ice cream. When I was young it was about the presents. Now that I am older, we get together basically to have lunch and spend some quality time together. Do you have any birthday traditions?

Well, first of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and your mom. You are right, as we grow older our life becomes hectic and it is because we start taking responsibilities. Till the time we were a kid, we used to give more care and attention to our birthdays but as we grow older and older even birthday becomes a normal day like other days. During my birthday my mother used to gift me and even i do the same to her :)

That is great timing for your birthday. And the fireworks are a great bonus.

Happy Birthday to you and your mom. About all we do is a card and a gift. Sometimes we will also have a cake and ice cream, but not always. We used to have cake and ice cream all of the time when we were younger, but since we got older things just got too hectic and it's hard to even find time to do it anymore. I guess as our parents get older we should make more time to spend with them though, whether it is their birthday or any other day.

That is true. We should make time for our families, even if its not a special occasion.

Happy Birthday to both of you:)
I often forget my own birthday lately and once or twice remembered my mom's birthday the day after.
I would still love a cake, but hubby and his family are not much into birthdays or any special dates so they usually forget my birthday as well.
WHen I was back home with my family, we used to celebrate everything and then some. It was one more excuse to get the family together and have a great time.
Cake was always a must and there were gifts and surprises - I love surprises :) -.
Then I came to Canada and I have no one from my family here, no more birthday parties with the whole family together.
