Are summer bowling leagues popular in your area?

Does anyone here bowl in a summer league? I have bowled in the summer leagues the past four years but decided that I am going to take this summer off. The last two summers has been disappointing because people kept dropping out during the season leaving only a few people left. It seems here that bowling is not very popular in the summer. Is this true where you live? Maybe I chose a bad night of the week to bowl (mondays).

When I bowled we were on a league during the winter. Summer time people don't want to be in a commitment to a league. People want to be out and about enjoying the outside. People take their vacations and things likew that. Enjoy your summer.

i guess there are those who prefer to take their vacations somewhere else... like go to summer getaways which are mostly in the beach. but i still believe there are those who loves bowling still. they say, it's kinda addictive when you're in it already. so, i guess there are still those who love bowling leagues in summer.

I definitely think that people do not want to commit to summer leagues because of plans with their kids or going away on vacation or doing home improvements or other things. Some nights might be better than others though. I will definitely enjoy my summer and will go and practice up and save my energy for the winter season again.

Bowling here in my state has seemed to drop way off in the last few years.I dont understand it because it is a very relaxing sport. Many of our bowling alleys have closed, and the ones that are open dont have many leagues anymore. I think it is more a winter thing than summer ,people dont want to be cooped up but in the winter they want something to do to get out for a while.

I agree that summer is when people probably want to spend more time outdoors and with their kids. They also want to travel and do home improvements and other things. Bowling is popular here but the summer time there is less interest or at least on monday nights. It is a very relaxing sport and I enjoy it very much. I am sorry to hear that the interest has dropped where you live.

i only have tried bowling once. i say, i love doing it. but i don't have enough money to keep doing it. i have heard of bowling leagues done in summer here. there are couples, singles, and there competitions for teenagers and kids, too. in fact, there are those who are for people 60 years old and above. i haven't seen a match for real. but i say, it's one good way of dealing out with stress. a good sport to keep your nerves kicking.

I am just a "beginner" in bowling so have to worry about leagues later..Here in wv I think folks are more concerned with hunting, fishing and racecars:)+

I live in the middle of the U.S. We are landlocked and it gets pretty darn hot! If you don't have a pool and you do not want to be outside...the people here for to the bowling alley and play while in the air conditioning. I have never lived in a town that everyone seemed to love bowling! Heck, there is a bowling alley on the other side of town that has 60 lanes!!! And that is no exaggeration!

There are many bowling alleys around my area, and they seem to have keep decent business over the years. The one I bowl at most often is out of state, about a 40 minute drive. I never bowled in a league but the leagues there were very, very popular. Sometimes my friends and I would go early, while the league was still bowling, just to see how good they were. So yeah, I would say they are fairly popular in my area.
