With all that we know about aging well, why are some people still aging badly?

You see them everywhere, old people with disabilities that were preventable. In fact I am currently working as a home health aide and I see some of the most perverse and horrifying wasting of my patients from lack of muscle tone, from lack of exercise, from a lack of attention to their bodies when they were still young and hale and hearty. We know that exercise and moderation of the negative influences in our life will help us to age well and not wind up disabled and having to be cared for like a child in our later years.
The patient that I am now caring for is 70 and completely disabled and home bound. She cannot even get into her wheel chair by herself nor can she walk two steps at all assisted or not. She says proudly, "I'm not doing to bad for a woman who never took care of herself!" EXCUSE ME! HELLO! Think about it for a second. If she had bothered to attend to her health and herself at all in the previous 7 years, I wouldn't be here now, invading her home an dher privacy and a party to even the most intimate of details in her life. She was a homemaker most of her life so she had the time to excercise and both of her children are overweight so this tells me that she and they had poor dietary habits too.
WHAT A WASTE!

I agree with you! People don't understand that what they do in youth, affects later life.

This is because poor dietary habbits only. They must eat atleast 50 grams of fibre everyday. That food fibre keeps them hale & healthy throughout their life. Those overweight people must drink OAT BRAN drink which is soluble in hot water.
