hey all, have you ever felt that God do punish his followers or have you ever felt that God has taken your test in some aspect of your life.
Have you felt that God was kind to forgive you for something??
this things are something that you might have felt in life, not necessarily happened! For me, i alwasy feel GOD always believes in giving time to his follower and if he does not improve, HE then punishes him only to save him from further mistakes........what is your take on this unexplanable phenomena of life???

( there is nothing personal in this I got thi data from a site so I hopw you would forgive me if think I'm wrong )
The contradictions of christianity.
God forgives everything (they say), but ONLY if you:
-- accept jesus as your personal savior (say some sects)
-- are baptized and receive the holy spirit (say some sects)
-- are baptized by IMMERSION, no other baptism counts (say some sects)
I think you get the picture -- god supposedly forgives everything, but only if you follow silly, inane "rules" which vary depending on which christian church you go to.
Also, the new testament says god is forgiving. The old testament says god is a jealous god, a vengeful god, that he will kill his enemies (and the enemies of his people), etc., such as destroying the cities of sodom and gomorrah. Guess god decided not forgive the people in those cities, huh? And never gave them a chance to "repent" either, not even the innocent children there. Some kind and forgiving god :(

It takes courage to write what you wrote. For me, I hold no grudges for any religion and i really respect everybodies views either +ve or -ve on my discussions so need to ask for forgive.
What you wrote definetly sparks a conversation but i would rather take it in the good spirit of understanding the "Almighty" through all possible ways.

i think god punishes as well as forgives his followers.it has happened with sometimes that i have been punished for what i think that i have don e wrong.i have seen also people suffering, what i think are doing it because maybe god has punished them.god is very merciful too as he forgives his followers if they come back on right track and asks gos for forgivness from the bottom of their heart.he also takes the test of his followers and he really takes a hard one for them who he really loves the most.in the end i would say that the god is the most merciful and whatever he does is for the best for his followers.

No I do not believe that God punishes his followers it is just us human being that thinks this when things are not working out for us, but did you ever think that this could be a test. Yes I believe that God has forgiven me we may have to go through quite a few tests but that is only so we can learn our mistakes.

I personally am Pagan, but I will reply to this referring to my Gods and Goddesses. I do think the Gods and Goddesses test me. I think they throw certain obstacles in my path to see how I will respond and react. I have had many hardships in my life, starting as a young child, and I always wondered "why has this happened to me?" I have realized that these hardships are for the better. To be able to overcome a hardship, it makes you a stronger person in the end. If you can overcome the hardships, you have sort of "accomplished" another test of life. God (or as in my religion, the Goddesses and the Gods) will reward us in the end for our accomplishments. That is my belief.

No, Karvin, I do not feel that God has ever punished me. He has lovingly corrected me as a loving father should.
Sometimes when people make mistakes and bad things result from them they believe that God is punishing them. But He is not it is only the results of the wrong doing. The circumstance resulting from doing wrong. That is why God tells us to obey Him and we won't get into trouble.
But sometimes God allows bad things to come into our lives to train us and to help us become stronger. But we are not being punished.
So I ask the Lord at such times to give me the strength to go through these things, Lord.

God is forgiving. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" I John 1:9. I don't think that God punishes believers. Trials are there to test our faith in Him. God will always forgive us if we are trully repentant. Not just asking forgiveness for the sake of asking forgiveness.

As towongfoo27 has told do not put all blames on God. You have to act anddo your duties. Itis a must to understandtheGod. There is a phrase ' Work is Worship'!
It is what you shold understand of the God's will.

I am deeply sure that our whole life is a never-ending number of trials. They may be easy and difficult, small and dramatic. Every time God sees our reaction on the trial - what will we feel? Will we feel agression or love? For example, you learnt that you were cheated by your partner - what will you feel? How will you behave? Will you hate him or forgive? Or, for example, you were stepped on in a bus - how will you react? What will you feel in your soul?
Thus, I think that God doesn't punish - He just tests us.

If I believed anything in the bible about the Christian god, I would assert that god has punished me. As I do not believe such, I instead take the position that I am responsible for myself, with no omnipotent being either blessing or punishing me. That is my paradigm. I respect yours even though I disagree.

Hey! I think you are very correct about God. God always give time to his followers, but the thing is; time extend what He is going to do to us in order to see how patience we are. The only problem with we humans is this, we feel we can't wait for God's time, we want all things to be done in a fast way. God never punish his followers, but rather He gives abundant Grace to his people.

Yes, GOD is very much forgiving. It came to a point in my life that i almost neglected HIM nor talk to him. But HE makes it a point to punish me by calling my attention if i'm about to go down deeper. small things happened during difficult times in my life and felt the blessings HE gave to me.

yes i have...because i have been very disobedient to his will.but i dont say that God punishes, its like God is teaching me a lesson. He does this because He wants me to be follow His example, and being a believer I supposed to be a light to others..."let you light shine before men that they may see your good deed and praise your Father in Heaven".. but instead of being the light i was one with the unbelivers...therefore God reminded me...trials came my way hardships are never ending...God is waiting for my response...but inspite of my disobedience God is always willing to forgive...for God is Love

I think that the lord tests me every day of my life. I have been through alot in my life since I was a little girl. Some of the things that I have gone through, leaves me with question as to why on many of them. I have always tried to live my life the best way I know how and I have faultered here and there along the way. We are only human and we will make mistakes. I think God does punish us in some cases for the wrong things we do. I also believe that he rewards us in alot of ways for all of the things that we do right and good unto ourselves and unto others.

I believe that God doen't take test, it is the normal human mentality that whenever we didn't succeed in any task we curse to our luck and fate, but when we succeed we say that we have done it. whenever we are in any problem then only remember god and say that god is taking our test, normally in our happy life pretty often we remind that all this beautiful thing is the gift of god to humankind.
