I have been both. I have been a doer of random act of kindness. One day while traveling down the road with my son we came across a van that was off on the side of the road. I stopped to see if they needed any help. The man in the vehicle said yes if he could get to a gas station and get some gas. I said ok and I took him to a gas station and then brought him back to his car. I thanked me and tried to pay me but I said no thanks. I felt good and I also felt like I set a good example for my son. This is only one incident. I have also been a receiver of RAKs but it was from an anonymous person and to this day I still don't know who sent me some flowers.

Of course they are!
Let's see, random acts of kindness:
Myself and some friends bought a gift card for a lady who couldn't afford holiday gifts for her kids. We chose a gift card instead of toys so that if she were really in a tight spot she could buy neccessities with it as well. We left it in her mailbox, and didn't leave any indication of where it was from, just a holiday greeting. =)
I've also helped people pay for things if I was behind them in line and they ran short, paid other people's cab fares, bought meals for people who were hungry, given a bike to another kid when I was young and won one in a contest... the list goes on and on. I love doing things for others!
As for random acts of kindness I've received, I had a young man get me out of a tight spot financially by paying a bill for me once. I was in front of him in line to talk to a customer service person, and I was trying to get an extension on the bill. After I left, he went up to the counter and asked to pay my bill, and they let him. They wouldn't tell him how much I owed, so he just kept offering amounts and saying "Is this enough?" until they took it. I would never have known who did it except that I knew someone who worked at the place.
