I had a bit of a chuckle when I first read this one. Thing is, every teenager thinks that they're smarter than mom and dad, and that they know everything. And it's when you're a teenager that you learn to kiss butt with your parents, telling them what you know they want to hear, then turning around and doing what you want anyway. Yes, kids are being more responsible about things today, but there is still an alarmingly high pregnancy rate in teenagers. And then they think that it's best to keep the kid, and raise it on their own, thinking that they know what's best for them and their child. Sometimes it works out, but a lot of times the teenager ends up living with the parents and they take care of the baby while the teenager finishes school. I had to work, I had to take care of my kid, and I had to make sure that things were being paid for. My parents weren't there for me at the time, but mostly because I thought that I knew better than they did, and stayed away from them. I learned my lesson as I got older, and have since thanked my parents for a lot of the things that they'd taught me as a child. I also realized very recently (within the last year or so) how immature I'd actually been, and how I truly wasn't ready to be a full fledged adult. I had to learn on my own, though, and make my own mistakes, and it hurt me later on as an adult because things haven't been easy. I wonder what would have been different had I listened, and taken the advice given to me, instead of thinking that I knew more than they did?

I definately agree but I do think its ever increasing with all this new technology. I'm only 24 but younger teens in school know so much more about all that stuff and they let you know how dumb you are! When we're little we 're taught mom and dad know everything then at some point we figure out they don't, and start thinking we do.
