How long should a couple date before they get married?

It depends on the people. My fiance and I had been dating about 6 months before we got engaged. Although we agreed to not get married until we had been together at least a year. For us when we actually get married depends on a few things, but we agreed no sooner than a year. Although I would suggest being together for awhile before deciding to get married to make sure you know enough about each other and how well you get along. Sometimes there are realizations that come a little too late about one another. Things that get on your nerves that you didn't know about one another until too late. Just a suggestion, but really getting married is up to the two people in the relationship, they are the only two that really know when it is right.

i dont think it is anyone's place to say "How long people should wait before getting married". My fiance and i dated 3 years before getting engaged and will be engaged two years before getting married.
