"Every day" denotes "each" day, whereas "everyday" denotes something "routine", as an 'everyday event'.
"Advice" is a noun (describes something); "advise" is a verb (the "action of advising").
Both sets of words are frequently misused (myself included).
Good luck!

I do know the differences between these words, but I am an educator as well, so it might not be a fair question. The two words that I have to watch myself with are effect vs. affect. I know them, but they do cause me to stop and think from time to time. Great topic...:)
