Have your cats ever killed anything?

Mine certainly have, and they always bring them home like trophies or something LOL. "Look what I caught, ma!" They've killed quite a few mice, a baby bird once :(, and a larger bird... Lizards all the time. The worse though was when my male cat (who does most of this type of thing..) found a nest of newly born rabbits! Oh god, that was terrible... I had no idea where it was, so I had no way of stopping it, but he'd come home with a new one of them every few hours... and I couldn't keep him home, he'd just run at the door at any given chance... It was terrible. He ATE the head off of one of them... ah...

Well, it sure sounds like your cats are normal.
Mine like to wait for the new crop of baby birds every year. I have a wonderful blue bird house that I am seriously considering taking down just because of my cats. The blood thirsty little carnivores eagerly await the mother bird to teach her young'uns to fly every year.
Guess what? Those babies never get off the ground again after fluttering down from their house. It is so sad. I'm just going to have to put a stop to it this year.

Hi Tanjila!
I have a cat who's name is Mingsy and I often caught her eating lizards every time she sees one. She often jumped to our furnitures and messes up our figurines every time she is inside the house. I often spank her for that doing because the poor little lizards are very small.
There is one time, that I saw her eating my cute and beautiful lovebird and I hated her for a long time and letting her sleep outside the house and I just fed her two times a day not three for her punishment. I really hated her that time but I realized that she is a cat and a cat must be cared for what ever they do you must love and care for them.

My cats are indoor cats and they still catch the mice that manage to get into the house. But I do have one that goes outside. Luckily he hasn't brought me any birds or baby rabbits but one day I caught him going after a chipmunk. By the time I got outside, it was too late.

Our cats do this as well. Most of ours are only indoors so they are limited to the occassional lizard that gets in and palmetto bugs (those I'm very glad they kill because I hate them). Mice seem to know better then to try and come inside, we have 10 cats. We have a couple though that go outside, one all the time, and he will bring us lizards. He hasn't managed to catch a bird yet. The other one we try to keep inside because she will wander too far but now and then she's gotten out and gotten birds to bring to us or to eat herself.
Now when we lived up north and in the country we had a cat that went indoor and out and he'd really bring home things. He brought home jack rabbits before and left them for my mom to find. He didn't eat them thankfully but my mom didn't like the gift either.

Unlike dogs, Cats have a killer instinct, it's in their nature to catch prey, they are only doing what comes naturally to them.
I have 2 cats myself and yes they have brought in their prey. Once our cat brought in a live bird, when he let go of it, it started flying around the house.

A long time ago a cat of mine (i was just a baby so i've only herad stories) would catch scorpions and pigeons, ALIVE, and bring them to my mom. And my mom would just let them go lol. I know you asked if they ever killed anything but I thought this fit pretty well.
But not very long ago my cats ripped the tail off a lizard, but I saved that one. They also attacked another, rather large lizard, but I got it away from them and let it go.
The only things I can say i've known my cats to actually kill are crickets and other bugs that get into our house. But me or my family usually hinder any attacks on any other critters....actually i try to stop them from killing crickets too lol, but I know they kill some when I'm not around.

I don't have cats now, but I did have them all through my childhood and when I first got married. I remember one cat who used to come into the house with a bird or mouse in it's mouth. He would drop it at my feet as if to say, "Look what I caught for you today". It was never a pleasant sight, but I never punished them. I just put a bell on their collar so the birds and wild life would have a chance to escape.

Oh yes, I've been brought several 'presents' by my cats over the years. One big cat we had brought a full-grown rabbit up and dropped it on the back porch - it was almost as big as he was and I couldn't figure how he did it, but ugh, what a mess!
The cat I have now tried to bring me a chameleon the other day, and the poor thing was still alive and wriggling in his mouth! I told him "No way, young man, you're not bringing that in here!" through the screen door, and he managed to look sheepish and slink off to kill it. Then he brought it back later and dropped it on the mat, of course.

I have cats at my home but they never do that, cats are almost human if we scold them when they do something wrong they never repeat in front of us. I know my cat hunts for mice but my cat never brings it home as we will beat her up if she brings that home. Anyway your cats actions are very filthy hehehe, be harsh with them at times than they will change.

We recently got our cat specifically as a mouser. As we are sandwhiched between two cornfields. One Night I was sitting at the kitchen table and saw him come charging into the corner heard a little sqeak and he was off to enjoy his catch well the little sucker manager to get himself int a crawlspace and I couldn't get to him. Could see him just couldn't reach him. So he sat back there and had himself a meal.

I hope that all cats are like yours, bec that cats that we have are all scared of mouse ( well, I have seen the mouse and it's so huge) and no the cat would even run away from the mouse whenever he sees the mouse coming..
