Do you feel you can be a good sports commentator?

When you are watching sports on tv, does it make you scratch your head with some of the comments the commentators make during the game? Do you get a laugh by their statements or get bored with them? Sometimes I wonder why they say some things that are very obvious. Do you think you can do better than some of these commentators?

I 'll never be a good sport commentator because i don't play any sports and also not a good watcher also. I think to be a good sports commentator one has to have to know that particular sports thoroughly and know that way he will get the basic idea how to comment on the plays or the players. But we can hear some boring commentating at times, but some i really appreciate by the way they judge somebodys mistakes or victory in the play.

It is true that a person does have to know a great deal about that particular sport in order to be a good commentator. Most commentators have played that particular sport in the past and that is why they know so much and have become good commentators.

You know I think I could make a good sports commentator ..even thougha I have never seen a woman sports commentator on tv at all..Have you Ken?

Being a huge sports freak I used to always crave a chance to be able to be a commentator. Well, when we hosted a huge hockey tournament locally I got my chance. I have to say, it's not as easy as it sounds and it definitely takes some practice and training! I found myself sort of 'forgetting' to tell the others what was going on and instead would watch and yell YEAH or go 'nice" or something. LOL Then it would hit me again.. duh.. dummy you're commentating! So while it seems pretty easy for any sports lover... it's a lot harder then it sounds! LOL

I find myself doing a commentary in my mind a lot of times when I am watching any match - cricket, football, tennis and basketball. I think I'd love to try it out sometime!! Problem is that I'm lousy at names and positions and would probably mess up on those counts a few times. But then.... no harm trying!!

I don't feel that way.Cause sports commentator is not an easy job.It requires a silver tongue which i don't own.What about you,hehe?

Oh god most definately not! I lie to be a back seat driver so to speak. Like the people who watch game shows and shout at the tv screen but then when put in the spotlight woudl clam up. i definately want to sit firmly on the sofa and let the current commentators take the flak lol
