Can you write both fiction and non?

I started out writing fiction, sci fi novels and stuff, but that never paid, of course! So I switched over to non-fiction in an attempt to make a living at writing. I do enjoy it, but not as much as making up stories and characters. However, something has happened to me . . . I can no longer do good fiction! Somehow my brain has switched permanently into non-fiction and I can´t do anything really fun anymore. I´m very sad. My bank account is better off, I suppose, but still. Anyone else have this problem?

I am much better at writing nonfiction but I think it's because I have worked with that field for so long. I love to try my hand at fiction, but it's much more difficult for me. I think it's good to work both sides of your brain. It's just that for most of us, writing fiction has to be something you do out of love. Very few of us can make a living writing fiction although who hasn't dreamed of writing a best selling novel? Still, when I read travel magazines, for example, I often see novelists writing travel stories, so even well established authors do switch genres. Good luck with your writing.

I write fiction and non- fiction both the type of writing! Fiction and poetry writing are inspirational, intuitive and satisfy me as a creative writer. Non-fiction writing helps to open up new horizon of subject stuffs which are related with myself from within to understand, to explain and so on. This satisfies me at logical level regarding learning and sharing such learning with others! Yet some time I have left writing on perticular subject because of stuck of the matter!

I'm not into much non-fiction. I like fiction better and I'm good at it. Though I don't suck with non-fiction, I still tend not to write anything about it--but, only if needed. I like to explore my imagination and am amazed on how I imagine really good things. So, I prefer something creative than something rather like a framework.
