Dear Newland, I believe that one serving of milk at night should be enough for your child. Is he drinking from a glass or a bottle?
There is nothing wrong with saying no to your child and there is nothing wrong with letting him cry. Crying won't hurt him.
It will help you and him to sleep better eventually when the child realizes that he won't be getting three glasse of milk at night anymore.
My daughter's child cried every night for and year. He was and new born when it started. I would visit her sometimes and I could sleep because of the crying. He even disturbed the neighbors.
Then after the year was out she just simply told her child to be quiet and shut up. And he did and there's been no more crying.
